It depends on if you are going to be a regular employee in either job. Fed ex ground often contracts the work out and you must supply a vehicle or lease one of theirs. Rural Carriers also start out as RCA's (part time) and in some areas must supply a vehicle.

Withour more information it's hard to answer your question. Being a rural carrier can be a great job once you land your own route.

If you are considering both, go talk to the people that have the job you might get. I've seen both angry and very contented workers in both companies.

Rural carrier the rural carrier has to use his/her personal vechicle to deliver mail, but it is a job that most people usually retire from because they are too old to do it anymore. The benefits are ok but you will find they are not fabulous and the only thing good about the career is your possible retirement.

I amnot sure whether Fed=X is unionized but it would appear that they would be paying more for starters than the quasi govt operation
