I was baptized when I was 17. I was desperately searching for the fulfillment that I hear religious people talk about. Unfortunately, nothing changed in me after the baptism. Eight years later, I am now a member of the Rational Response Squad, a group of raving atheists.
Maybe I never really believed, or maybe your god didn't deem me worthy of his blessings. I don't know... All I do know is that I don't believe in any of it anymore.

You are very enthuastic, but the Bible says you are wrong. What other people say does not matter as you suggest but if God says it you really should take notice. All Christians are baptized by the Holy Spirit, because that is what makes you a Christian.
1 Cor 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

The water and the preacher and all that's only symbolism. It would not unquestionably do something. the unquestionably ceremony is carefully meaningless. that's only accomplished for the objective of concerning the church community. that's, the significant area approximately that's that the guy accepts the Holy Spirit, and that's no longer a visual element... the flaws we do that are seen are accomplished to foster a feeling of community and mark the date whilst the toddler became into presented to the individuals. In my church, we've replaced the ceremony to greater suitable mirror that. the individuals be attentive to that the sacrament is unquestionably one of community, and that's an incredible element because of the fact all of us get to ascertain the hot toddler :) Taking the spirit into your heart and living your existence with God from that element on is the actual baptism. All that different stuff is only smoke and mirrors.

I was baptized, yes, but being baptized with water is merely a symbol of being truly baptized by Christ. I've been born again for almost six years now. My father passed on in Feb. of '02 and that experience of watching my father slowly die (from lung cancer) is what God had used to bring me to Him - to open my eyes and heart; to turn to Him for forgiveness and profess Christ as my Savior and Lord. God used that experience, telling me that, now if I want to see my father again, the ONLY way to see him and spend eternity with him is through Christ! Since then, it is a total blessing to know that God has baptized me with His Holy Spirit and now, when I look back (though I know I shouldn't), I feel low and ashamed that I haven't turned to God much sooner - had to be when my father passed away and not before! That's something I'll regret 'til the day I die, that I didn't turn to the Lord long before my father passed. My father was also a born again Christian, but became born again LONG before I did. Of course, I can't look back on what was - have to look to future - and knowing Christ is my Lord and Savior, being 'sealed' with Christ 'til the day of judgment is a great thing. Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is the best exprience in life that anyone could ever go through!

You can be saved without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, certainly- but you will never reach your true potential as a disciple of Christ. As my pastor has said: "If God makes this gift available to you, why WOULDN'T you want it?

Yes, since my senior year in high school.
Being Baptized in the Holy Spirit is what occured in Acts chapter 2 and verse 4 to the original disciples.
As Peter said in his first sermon, this experience is available to you and your children even those who are afar off, as many who call upon the name of the Lord.
And that includes you and me today.

Yes, baptized in the Holy Ghost...what a wonderful thing....now remember that speaking in tongues is only evidence of this...it is not being baptized in the Holy Ghost...
