You left out a lot of information to help one understand the nature of the relationship you have with this person----like how long you have known each other, how you knew he does not want to be your friend, if he is dating someone you both know,and so on.Until you come back with more info, it is almost impossible to answer your question.

It sounds like he doesn't know the difference, if
he doesn't want to be friends anymore but you
2 hang out then don't worry just go with it.
Perhaps you should think wow I went out with
this guy & when he is so stupid if your concern
is to be around him or have him hanging around
you like I said just go with it

Just relax, don't force it, if its meant to be let him come to you and make the first move. If not, he's not worth the stress and tears and something better is out there for you. Good luck!
