Because Nimrod was trying to prove he was smarter then God. He does desire for us all to go to Heaven but you have to accept Christ to get there not by short cuts.

Because the people who were building the Tower of Babel wanted to build a tower that reached all the way to Jinnah(heaven). No one can get to Heaven except on the day of Resurrection. ALLAH(Subhanna wa ta'ala) destroyed the tower and made the humans have different languages so they would never be able to go and build another tower.

God destroyed the tower of Babel because the people were trying to lift themselves up above God as if they were gods. It was not a case of them trying to get to heaven.

If it weren't for the Tower of Bable gettin' knocked down, we would all speak Hebrew.

If we all spoke Hebrew, nobody would speak Spanish.

If there was no Spanish, you wouldn't be able to major in it at college and I wouldn't have gotten a degree in it. So God did it just so I could have a B.A.

hehehehe Hey you asked! Plus it makes a nifty Tarot card. The Tower #16 = total chaos and destruction

The Tower of Babel wasn't about choosing Heaven. It was about mankind seeking to guarantee their own salvation without consideration for God or His Word. This is much what Atheists and Evolutionists are doing today. Just as God gave the tower-builders their comeuppance, the supposed Atheists and supposed Evolutionists are gonna get theirs, too. ;-)

Man has tried to build many ways to get to Heaven. But Jesus said HE is the way, the only way. Thank you Lord

John 14;6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

it would be too easy, if everyone knew for SURE there was a tower to heaven then they'd DEF. want to believe. By destroying it, we have to rely on faith. If there really IS a heaven, god wants those that TRUELY believe him to enter. Not those that are in it for greed. if that were to happen, then heaven would no longer be heaven...comprendo?..

hope this helps! =]

Surely no adult person actually believes that all of the languages in the world came from the "Tower of Babel", right?

They were building with the wrong intentions in mind, just like you asking this question with ill intentions.
