here's the conversation and should I stay friends if I should move on

Well, you could have sent her an email or a fax...those could have been worse choices. Maybe.

But you don't need to run, either.

Do you already know her or see her? If so, next time you see her you can laugh it off. Say something like..."OK, texting you to go out was kinda silly. I'm so comfortable around you that I want to spend some time with you in person...let's get a coffee. I'm buying."

If you don't see her, don't press her for an answer anymore. If you IM her again, don't even bring it up. If she texts something first to accept, you're in luck. Go out with her and if it comes up again in person, make a joke about asking her out over IM.

If she texts something negative, your response should be something like "lol...i can't believe I did that. it was so stupid..." Then go back (relationship-wise) to where you were before you asked her. The ball is in her court. She knows you're interested and she'll respond if she's interested, too. Then, if you see her in the future, you're also OK to ask her for that coffee.

Just don't force her to give you an answer. You might not like her response.
