I know, I know a $400 suit is all I can afford. If I had more I would. anyways I'm overweight, and need a suit, not now but before I graduate college next November. I had my eye on an olive green, three piece suit at the mall. I know I can loose, the weight, and if I buy the suit, the jewish in me won't allow the money to go to waist, should I do it.

If you believe the suit will inspire you to lose the weight it is probably worth while.

My question is what will you do to inspire you after you fit in the suit? If you don't keep up the diet you will gain the weight back.

If you make a change in your life style that makes healthy eating and exercise a part of your everyday routine then you will keep the weight off. You will be able to wear the suit until it has worn out. You need to be motivated beyond the suit you want now to make a healthy choice for a better life. If the suit is just a stepping stone to get you going on this path to a better, healthier life, then I say, BUY the SUIT!

Good luck!

I wouldn't suggest it. Although it can be a motivation, it could lead to more problems, because what if you lose a lot of the weight, but not all of it? Then all that weight loss and the health you made for yourself won't matter; all you'll be able to focus on is that you didn't make the goal soon enough. I would put the money away, and save it while working on your goal of weightloss, then when graduation rolls around, then you buy one that fits(which will hopefully be the olive one). It would be a lot wiser decision, that will hopefully save you money and still help you lose weight. Also try getting a picture of the suit, and hang it somewhere where you'll see it each day. That can also serve as motivation. I wish you the best in becoming more healthy. Good luck!

You have a lot of stress in your life right now with graduation and all. Don't put more on yourself about losing weight, expecially an exact amount to fit a specific size. Eat healthier, exercise in a fun activity. But when it comes time, buy a suit that fits the figure you have, no matter what it may be. That always is better than putting money on the unknown. You'll wish you had the money back.

No. Just because you lose weight doesn't mean you will look good in or like the way you look in that particular suit next Nov.

Concentrate on losing the weight, then pick a suit that makes you look your best at the weight you are at when you buy it.

When you lose weight, the proportions of your body will change.

I wouldn't... theres a nice salvation army where I am at, they have rows of suits in mint to near mint condition for next to nothing... if I were you I would pick up high quality second hand suits for next to nothing and then pay to get them tailored (tailoring is cheap but is what makes suits super sharp). Why have one $400 suit when you can have an entire wardrobe of tailored, perfectly fitting suits for less?

Spend the $400 on a gym membership. You'll use it so as to not waste the money.

Don't do it, you'll only waste your money. I tried keeping clothes I got too big to fit in to encourage me to lose weight but it doesn't work!!
