It depends on how you define a religious person; alot of politicians claim they are religious to steal weak votes. Here is how God defines religion:

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." - James 1:27.

In other words, if I thought the candidate was going to help the poor, help with healthcare issues, refrain from war as much as possible then yes I would vote for them; if vice-versa than no I would probably refrain from supporting them.

Sure I would. Of course I would prefer someone who has a background in faith but people sometimes give the appearance of having faith to sway folks who look at everything through a religious eye, so not everyone's faith is sincere. A person does not have to be religious to be of good moral character, have high standards, or be a leader who is trustworthy. It has been my experience however, that those qualities and faith often go hand in hand but it's certainly possible for a person of no faith to possess those attributes. If that is the case and the person is the best candiate with the proper qualifications, he or she will get my vote.

Absolutely not. In this day and age, I want a leader who is on God's side, especially with the capacity our country now has to wipe life off the earth! When there is another world war, I want our leader and country to be on the "good side" so that we win! But, I now worry that our country is abandoning God.

Erm maybe but probably not, but if there is nobody better for the job and they are a good person with good ideas then ok.
