Because The Davinci Code didn't reflect what the Bible tells. The Movie is based on something that was written just a few hundred years ago after the Bible was already written. So to have a movie that is about "The Church and the Bible" but that isn't really from the Bible....that doesn't even make sense why someone would do that.

There wasn't an outrage till it became a movie. Same with the upcoming The Golden Compass. Most likely because they don't read up on anything (even their own Bibles), but sit on their backsides and listen to other people tell them what is going on. They claim this is them NOT being OF the world... when in fact, it's just plain laziness. Nothing in the Bible states you should be ignorant of what is going on in the world....

They do not like the whole "Jesus was married" thing. They hate it actually. Jesus was supposed to be pure, for some reason. I guess because the clergy are supposed to be emulating him and he was supposed to be a poster-boy for abstinence. But he marital status is one of those things that the Dead Sea Scrolls disagree about and the popular Bible texts have been manipulated to favor his existence as a celibate. But the Bible has been tweaked and tinkered with for almost 2000 years, including numerous well documented "conferences" to tweak it in the last 400 years! So if you still believe the text is being "divinely composed through the action of man at the direction of God' - then Jesus was single. If you read the scrolls? He was married - but that is not accepted by most in-the-faith.

"The Last Temptation of Jesus" - Jesus dreams that He had an affair with Mary Magdalene. You expect Christians to accept and or promote such a movie?

"The DaVinci Code" - Jesus marries Mary Magdalene and they had a child whose line of descendants continues today.

"Inherit the Wind" - Christians expose their stupidity as they oppose the evolutionists.

Hollywood is out to make money. They will do ANYTHING to that end.

By the way, "Inherit the Wind" was SSSOOOOO distorted. And most people accept it as true. Christians are afraid the peoples' minds are so closed that instead of researching for themselves, they will accept Hollywood version as true.

Because it was putting out there about the fact that Jesus could have been married and had children which made him less than divine or God like. They said the STORY was blaspheming and should never have been shown, yet some of the FACTS that were worked into the story ARE real facts and can be researched! (IE: The council of Nicaea in regards to the bible!)

Anytime you prevent someone from making tons of money that someone will be upset. Religions are businesses so they treat anyone proving them wrong as hostile competition instead of welcoming the opportunity to prove their cases. Now about the outrage hahahah wait for the "new testament-the non-religious version." You'll see outrage then hahahaha.

Because the DAvinci Code could confuse many people about the Christianity. They believed that the youth would believe things that were in the movie and leave Christianity. Atleast, thats what I remember about it, I think ~_^

Why is there a Christian outrage about anything under the sun that might remotely be fun? The same reason they're flipping out over Harry Potter, the Golden Compass and they used to flip out over rock n roll.... because they can and love to call themselves persecuted. It lets them continue their superiority complex.

Because most christians can't tell the difference between truth and fiction. If they could, they would recognize that the film was FICTION written by an AUTHOR with made up characters and scenarios. Same with their bible; fiction, fairytales.

Frankly, the book was superior and the film was fantastic. I have my feet firmly planted in this world and recognize good fiction when I see it.

Part of the book's story was that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and they had a child together. The author insisted that there was significant historical evidence for that (which there HONESTLY isn't, and the book was pretty badly researched anyway...

and naturally, many Christians got all upset with that because they tend to believe that Jesus never married.
