Are we already at our limit in funds? Are our troops stretched too thin? Are we going to stand up and take charge as a country if the next president decides to send us to war when we say we don't want to? Will our country survive should we be invaded? I would LOVE to hear everyone's opinion about these issues.

Well...it is a volunteer army of course...I hope you have another solution for 9/11...maybe we should just let them get away with it...pffttttt.

If the US were invaded, everything else takes a back seat. That means the troops come home to defend America. And the entire, concentrated force of the US military is a incomprehensible force.

And that's only the military. Conquering the armed civillians is another matter entirely.

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." - Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

Funding? Getting close and the cuts will be issued first at our military as usual.

Stretched too thin? No. Troops are tired and (just as important) families are really suffering with the repeated deployments. But we serve as ordered. My son has 3 tours and wife 2 tours in the war. Harm done to their child will only be known in 14 or 15 years.

Next President? He/She is going to have to continue the war on terrorism, or it will begin here and 9/11 will look like a simple car wreck.

Invasion? Take a look around you at the assets we have. Let me use Texas as an example. A state larger than most countries that would try to attack us. Logistical nightmare to invade, occupy and maintain order. It would take a jillion troops to do so in that one state. Then, look at military assets in Texas. Then, look at weapons privately owned in Texas. Then look at same in surrounding states. You cannot defeat, nor invade, this country with conventional warfare. It will have to be biological, chemical or nuclear. All three are the dream of terrorism. If we do not stop those idiots from developing those 3 areas then, yes, we will be destroyed. If not the world. Although, I must caveat that with the fact I believe the nuclear side by terrorists is a lower priority. We would lose cities, perhaps millions of citizens, but we would survive. But, a small vial of a biological agent spread in a major US airport would transit the width and breadth of this nation rapidly. Perhaps, worldwide. Destroying every living creature.

Realize the terrorist idiots do not care about human life, only their "cause" which is world domination by their religious convictions. If we die so be it. If lots of them have to die so be it. If there is a chance the entire human race is wiped out in the attempt to rid the world of "infidels", in their eyes so be it.

I said my piece.

My God bless our troops in harms way and the United States of America

Only if the lib dems cut off funding. Our military is the strongest in the world. The troops are not stretched to thin though. That's just one of the lib talking points. We have 3.5 million military members and there's only 160,000 in the theater of war. Does this sound thin. I don't think so..

You've seen more diplomacy and strategy from our military attempting to 'change' the direction of countries more than anything else at this point. In an all-out agressive war, you ain't seen nothing yet.

The military is just fine and doing a fine job. The only weak link in National Defence is the majority of the American civilians pissing and moaning about the war. Kwitcherbellyakin!

Yes - we will.

If we were invaded, well, we're awash in guns and would not hesitate to defend ourselves.

Take us into a war we don't want? No one wants war, m'dear, but it's something that sometimes has to happen.

I think the current administration, by ignorance and incompetence, has squandered the most essential, most valuable military asset a nation can have: the threat of effective military action.

Yes, it is social collapse that is going to destroy the USA not military defeat.
