...a need to pray to them. Is that true?

It's the other way around. God's plan is for us to constantly pray to him -- always -- even when we're driving. Thus, we're following in his plan *because* we trust him.

And because he's our copilot on the highway. Praise Jesus, I've had my airbags removed!

That is because he is not understanding who God is.Christ Himself said in Matthew 7: 7. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
You see God wants a relationship with us, the only way to have a relationship is to talk to God. He knows what you need He just wants you to acknowledged Him. Doesn't your boyfriend want the same from you, to talk with you.

Prayers are more for our benefit than any God's, actually. They don't need anything from us. I honor them not because I want to tell them what they "should" do or what I want, but because I like thinking about them and feeling close to them. It reminds me of their qualities that I admire and inspires me to be a better person, myself.

Do you believe everything your boyfriend tells you?

God doesn't need to hear our prayers, He delights in them! Our prayers are our way of communing with a Holy God, regardless of whether we are asking for anything or not.

No. We pray, so that GOD would reveal HIS plans for us. My trust and faith is not an emotion. It is part of my "fiber".

GOD bless

Not at all. God encourages us to pray. Jesus prayed and he was entirely trusting in his Father.
