does it have a movie mode?....cause i was looking at the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and it has a movie mode...and iam wondering does nikon have it to....only the D40...which 1 is better

These are 2 very different types of cameras. The Nikon is a DSLR camera (like the pros use) It has the ability to change lenses and allows user control of things like shutter speed and aperture. It has a larger learning curve, no image stabilization, no internal cleaner for the sensor (for dust removal when you change lenses), and no movie mode (most DSLR's don't). The Canon PowerShot Pro is a high end point and shoot camera with all the bells and whistles. Check out dpreview.com for in depth reviews of lots of cameras. For still photography buy a DSLR.

For videos buy a video camera.
