we have a entertainmnt centre with 4 doors. We put a shower hook through the loop and hang it over the top of the cupboard doors, then close them. The stockings stay in place and in sight.alternately hang them on the bed post

I purchased a wallhanging with 5 hooks - perfect for our family of 4 plus pet yorkie. Mine is a wrought iron look and has served well over the past few Christmas'. I hang it close to my tree.
One with a shelf over the hooks would be really cute also, you could decorate the shelf like a mantel.

You can hang them under a window sill. My sister has a small apartment, and she hangs hers under her living room window sill and they look fine. She puts lights all around the window, and fake holly on the sill and hangs the stockings there.

We have a built in cabinet for our tv with other shelve's. That where we hang ours.
If you have chairs with high backs you might could hang them there.
