I am a senior with a 3.7 GPA and had attended two pre-college programs. I show no interest in attending college, yet people are pressuring me to sign up for scholarships and financial aid and stuff.

I plan on living my life without having to attend college, yet I don't want to disappoint my family. They mean everything to me, and when I told my dad...

Well, honestly, I really don't know if college is right for me. I plan on being successful without a college degree, if that is possible. A few opinions on how I could do that?

Sure, lots of people are successful without a degree. But it's getting harder and harder to find a good job without some kind of advanced training - either a degree, or specialized training in the field you'll be working in.

You have a 3.7 GPA, so people are hoping you'll go to college to give yourself every chance you can get. With that GPA you are obviously bright and also a hard worker.

If you end up starting your own business, things you'd learn in college would be likely to help you be successful at it.

My suggestion - give it a try. You might be surprised to find that you like it after all.

Good luck.

You plan of being a success without a degree. So what is your plan? Sounds llike you don't really have one. Unless you have a special talent or are going into a family business you better get a plan. Could this be a little bit of being a rebel - you know everyone says to do it so I will show them different.
College is a place where you can find out what you want to do and then get some education in that area. Don't think of it as a series of boring classes think of it as a place to get your life's plan in order.
It is a tough world out there and those with a degree are finding it hard to make a living. They have to keep learning to keep their careers on track.
You have the grades and seem like the finances to get a degree. Many would give their right arm to have your opportunity. Take advantage of it. If you get a degree in 4 years that will at least give you options for the future. And whatever your plan is it will probably by easier to attain it with a degree.

A College degree will always land u up in a better job than without one. It wud give specific skills to master, find a career which u want to takeup, give an opportunity to meet many people like you with whom you can hang out and discover new things, would give u a different perspective in life abt many issues and things. It shudn't just be abt whether u disappoint ur parents but also abt not utilizing the academic ability u have and which wud certainly lead u to something better only. I wud say, go for it or later in life someone might b given a preference over u just bcoz they have a college degree.

Don't go to college unless you are ready to commit to a major and career. I know too many people who wasted their post-high-school life and money trying declare a major. College is a great thing but it is never worth going into debt. Take some time to figure out what you want to do in life. If college is part of your vision, then go for it.

Successful people have a formal education. The few that do not are the exception. You should find a college & a major that you can really enjoy & just go with the flow..learn, enlighten yourself, move ahead & mature. Good luck with all of it.
