I have new 40'' Samsung LCD 1080p and I don't know which HDMI cables to get and which are the best for such a TV.

For the short runs you are talking about - there really is no need to go for expensive brand name HDMI leads. there is no real signal loss between the source and TV in such a short distance so really, save your money

Most people will tell you Monster is the best most reliable brand, and I agree. Although it is true you won't experience much loss of quality without quality cables over a short distance, but if you're looking for something solid go with a Monster HDMI cable it will probably be about 100$, or you can go online and pay about 20$ for a similar length cable from another brand and experience little or no signal loss quality. It depends on if you are a hardcore movie buff or just a casual watcher think about how much time will be spent watching and justify the money as such.

The HDMI cable carries a DIGITAL signal. As long as the signal arrives, there is no difference in the picture using a $5 cable or a $100 cable.

The brand of cable I trust is "Belden" - normally sold to industry. BlueJeans carries these. I spent $38 for my twelve foot cable and it works perfectly. They also carry some Chinese made "Tatung" brand for less.

The cheapest cables are from MonoPrice. I have 4 short versions of these feeding a HDMI switch and they work perfectly.
