My co worker told me her cousin spent that amount of money on a birthday party. The lil girl had ponies, those jumper things, clowns....All kinds of stuff. Do you all feel that's a little too much for a child that young, or does it matter? Will a child even remember any of that? The earliest birthday I remember was at 5 or 6, and it sure wasn't even close to 3000 dollars! Thoughts?

Gemma you are really trippin'. Yes I posted this question, but so what? My co-worker told me this. If I want opinions on it, I have the right to get opinions! If you don't like it, all you had to do was skip the question! Wow, some people are really off the rocker! SMH

Yeah its absolutely ridiculous to spend that amount of money on a child's birthday. She is going to end up not respecting money and being a spoiled brat. Some people have more money than sense!!

It doesn't matter how much you spend or how little. The child won't know and the mother won't care because it's the thought that counts. Kids grow out of toys so fast. I think that they would rather play with the box than the gift it's self. I would say that I would spend around $20 but shop around you will be amazed at what you can find for children under that. This child is 3 why not buy him a colouring In Book and some pencils. This will make him feel more grown up. I did this for my 3yr ofl nephew and he loved it. Hope I could help.

I kinda think that $300 would be a crazy tab for a pre-schooler's birthday bash!
Then again, it's easy to get carried away. Especially if you didn't have a lot growing up, and you only have one child ... you have to be careful to take a step back now and again. I know a lot of affluent, older parents with just one kiddo, eager to give their offspring the best. So I can *almost* see how "let's have a picnic in the backyard and maybe some balloons" could turn into a party fit for Suri Cruise.
Almost.

That's absurd.
My mom used to spend maybe $50 on a birthday party and we all had a blast. We'd have weenie roasts and pinatas or camp outs in the backyard and my mom and dad always made everything but the ice cream. My parents knew every game under the sun. For my sweet 16 my parents went big and dropped $150 to give me a Beatles themed party that was totally awesome.
You don't need to spend a lot of money, you just need to be creative. Kids don't care how expensive something is if they get to run around, get dirty and eat sweets.

Holy crap! We funded our niece's 2 year birthday party and I thought $300+ food was bad... and there were tons of kids there. That is really crazy.. for a party she will doubtfully remember. People try to live through their children, that is all there is to it.

Thats nothing!
I work at a luxury hotel/resort and we've done a $20,000 birthday party for ......... a girl that turned 1 year.
The party is mainly for and about the parents, not the child.

that is absolutely ridiculous. i didn't spend even $100 on my sixteenth birthday. that money could have been put toward the girl's college education.
it's never too early to save.

SOOOO , Each to their own !!
Stop judging them , its their kids and can do what they like you may think oh thats alot but to them it may not be ! who cares if the kid remembers it or not its the fun she would of had on the day ! Do you know what trouble they had concieving ?? you know nothing else !!
It shouldnt of bothered you enough to write this question , sorry but leave them be or go and ask them why they spent that much if its bothering you NOT to strangers to make you feel better if they agree with you !

That's @*@*#@* ridiculous. No, she will not remember it! No 3 year old needs any of that. Imagine the amount of homeless children they could have fed.

That is a whole lot of money to spend on a birthday party for a 3 year old. If you have the money and want to spend it on a baby for your child go for it. But it's not something that I would do personally.
