Talk to your mom, your doctor, your guidance counseler, a therapist. Someone who can help you during this difficult time in your life. Pills aren't always the answer. They can help, sometimes, but more importantly you need to learn how to cope, not just cover up the symptoms and pain with pills.

Hi Sam. This is too big for a 14 year old to deal with by yourself. There is so much information a person needs to properly help you, and here isn't the place. You've got to talk with your mom about how you feel, and reach out to a teacher or school counselor or nurse about dealing with the grief. They will be able to find you the support you need in this very difficult time.

Seeking counseling of some sort should be a main strategy not only for now but to help you deal with things when she passes. Depression medication might not be the right answer right now but keep an eye on things and if it gets worse then definitely it would be worth a try. My condolences and best wishes for the whole family. God bless

It's normal to be feeling like you do right now - and I would like to say that I am so sorry about your mother - I know that has to be very hard on you. Instead of looking towards medication at this point, I would look into finding a counselor that handles these type of situations...someone who can walk you through your feelings and help you. Again, I am so sorry and really hope that you find the answers you need.

No, not right off the bat.. It is healthy to go through a mourning/grieving period. Your mom needs to see that this is hard for you, and that you love her dearly.
Antidepressants will mask your genuine feelings. Just let her know how sad you are, and if her cancer is terminal, you need to see a psychiatrist about beginning treatment, which includes therapy and medication. My heart goes out to you and your family. Stick in there, she needs you right now.

gosh im SOOOO SORRY to hear this.
yes i would take something to make me feel abit more...stable. i dont really know what to say to you. greif is NEVER a walk in the park, it doesnt matter how you deal with it, it will always make you choke. if i were you, i would get all the anger, sadness out of me at once and just cry and scream till you feel better. its better you get rid of all that bad feeling now so that you can deal with her "loss" later on.
i hope its just a mistake and the doctors got it wrong and you mother will be as bright as rain soon. stay positive, i knoe it can be hard but you need to, for your own sanity and your for your mum.

good luck..and again , so sorry

You should talk to a therapist. You may be depressed; you may also just be grieving naturally. A therapist will be able to tell you whether you need medication--however, you probably do--sometimes the grieving process is just too much, and you need help to function.
Good luck...I'm sorry about your mom.

I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles. Unfortunately, there won't be a magic cure—pills aren't the answer, especially the heavy pharmaceuticals. You have to be confident in yourself and know that you have a purpose.

Good luck!
