They do think think they are better than everyone else and think other countries are beneath them. They are so illiterate they only know the history of only their own country. It is like they live in a bubble.

What do you think?

I rather Canadians and the British. They are nice people. Americans are nasty and stuck up

Honestly, I think you are making a HUGE sweeping generalization here.

Do I think America is better than other countries?
A little, but not because of any stuck up reasons... It's my home. I was born and raised here. I'm sure if you went to any other country and asked them if they felt their country was better than another, they would agree.

Do I think that other countries are beneath ours?
Absolutely not!

Am I so illiterate that I only know the history of my own country?
No. I am a history major. This semester I am taking classes on Modern Britain (taught by a professor who graduated from Oxford.. Not an American who could be seen as a fraud in the eyes of anyone else) and Ancient Greece. In addition to that, Anthropology, Basic Text (focusing mostly on Ancient Greek texts), and Religion in Society. The last one is the only one that has anything to do with American society. I actually try to stay away from American History. It doesn't interest me very much. I prefer the history that comes from other countries.

Do I live in a bubbe?
No. Perhaps I should.

I have been told that Americans are narrow minded. Do I argue this point? Yes and no. I argue it to the point that some Americans are narrow minded. Some are overly patriotic to the point where all other countries are below them, much like you stated. I would also argue that not all Americans are like that. I would love to travel to different countries. I have been to Italy and Greece so far, but I would love to travel to every European country that I can. Many Americans aspire to do the same. I really just wish that others could understand that not every American is like that.

I dated a Brit. He turned out to be a complete pig. What would it say about me if I decided that all Brits were pigs? It would say that I am narrow minded.

Now think about that generalization about Americans.... What does that make you?

The world does revolve around us, like it or not. If the U.S. was to close it's markets to the world tomorrow, the economy of the world would collapse. Whenever there is a major problem the world looks to U.S. leadership. They may hate us, be jealous of us, but we are the current center of the world. That may change in the future, but it is the way things stand now. Knowing the history of other countries is a different story. Which ones should we study? Why those? Lastly, millions of people are still trying to come to this country every year, legally and illegally, for the opportunities that they can have here, that they can not have elsewhere. For these and many others we "think" we are the center of the world, just as others have done before.

Im American and I believe that this is the best nation in the world. Im sick of political correctness in this country. I will think that this is that best nation in the world until the day I die.
I love how people can knock this nation yet want all that it has to offer. For example this person most likely lives in another country yet wants to use the internet that was created in America. The pure and simple fact is that we are the greatest nation in the world the rest of the world does not revolve around us but it depends on us. The united states is a financial powerhouse, a military force that is respected and intimidates all who oppose it, and the greatest example of freedom that their has ever been. My guess is your country has been bailed out in some way from the united states and I bet your nation loved ours then. If you don’t like the United States then either get over it or don’t take the benefits that come from being associated with this great nation. We have saved the world from imperial terrene or domination (see WWII, Korea, Vietnam(even know we left without victory), dessert storm, and now the war on terror (which I know some don’t agree with)) get over it the world needs us far more then the US needs the rest of the world.

It's the downside of freedom of speech.

Unfortunately, freedom of speech does not mean freedom of intelligent, insightful or articulate speech. In addition, our current monarchy only perpetuates the "better than everyone else" image by their actions and policies. We are led by a half-realized idiot-savant cowboy and our media feeds the world a constant stream of pap that perpetuates this image.

On the upside, there are many Americans who don't share this feeling. We're counting the days until January 2009 when we hope to be freed from bondage and undo the damage. This is still a great country. We're just going through a difficult time.

Oh man, here come the "thumbs downs" again.

Well, that is truly right. A very good description.

But they don't know that well either.

There was the case of an American arriving in England and he saw two doors at the airport. One said: "British subjects" and the other: "Foreigners".

He immediately headed to the first door, but he was stopped and told that he should go to the other door.
"But I am no foreigner." He said "I am an American"

From Canada
Most Americans do not feel that the world rotates around them. There are stupid people in all countries and we do not describe the country by their opinions.
The population of the U.S is 10 time greater then Canada so one would assume there is 10 times more non inteligent people.......Although sometime these seem to be the people that talk the loudest ( when their not running for public office)

we were a 'significant' u . s . for a lengthy time period. we've been a international means for like one hundred years, and the international means for 60 years. in the course of all this time we've been remoted from the international by 2 huge oceans. We not in any respect were given in touch contained in the arguments and fights between the different significant international locations, maximum of that were crowded antagonistic to at least one yet another in Europe. therefore we not in any respect cared about, or perhaps knew about, what changed into happening interior something of the international. we've a tendency to imagine the U. In US papers, international information, international information is on web page 21, and it truly is 0.5 a web page. In the different u . s . (even Canada) international information is at the front web page, and human beings opt for to study it earlier they examine their personal u . s .'s information. US politicians were waiting to exploit our unlucky cultural isolation from something of the international, by arising chimerical threats. The chilly conflict, and now the 'conflict on Terror' (a euphemism for the conflict on Islam). 0.5 the voters contained in the U. Canadians are better off in a lot of techniques that human beings. yet on condition that our subculture is so self-congratulatory, we see this huge difference as inferiority. So, for instance, we do not opt for customary well-being care even if it can provide us an similar look after further or less 0.5 the price. 'Cos it truly is basically no longer the yankee way. 8^<

Every time I look at a world map, America is in the middle, so it looks like it does revolve around us!

What do you think?

Since you are not an American, I don't really care, but you can still answer if you don't mind being ignored.

This coming from someone called King of THe world.

As to our illiteracy, we have a relatively high literacy rate. We may be ignorant of world History, but that's because our schools are over burden with immigrants and slows down our teachers from giving us a proper education.
