Yes, I agree with you. I am white too and my BFF is bi-racial. It irratates me however that there are not just white racists, but a lot of black racists too. I think this has to do with not being able to forgive. History created a monster and even though we are not those people of that day, some people will neve let it go. We just have to rise above.

There are degrees of racism, some or justifiable and some not.
If the degree of racism becomes hatred, I would consider that a mental disease.
If it's because of social mores, that's understandable, and should be tolerated; we're all different, and have different ways of relating to others behavior, and should have the right to choose, or not, whether such behavior is socially unacceptable.

Generally it is because difference in cultures, or jealousy more than an actual "Racial"/skin color issue. People resent those they consider "higher class" than themselves, and people also distain being with those they consider beneath them. Beneath doesn't actually have anything much to do with finances, either, in the USA at least. One group, especially a minority group who flaunts the customs and traditions of another is likely to be considered less intelligent and not worthy of respect by the majority group.
This happens on all levels. Look who is discriminated against most often in a "minority" neighborhood....the people in the minority. So if it's a Black neighborhood, it isn't the Blacks who are discriminated against by their own, but the Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Koreans, Whites or whomever.
There is a natural pecking order in nature; even animals exhibit it; the story of the Black Sheep illustrates that well. The ONLY two ways I can think of to get around this is to do something so well that people respect you for your "gift" and overlook the fact that you are different from the majority in your culture and actions OR try to blend into the culture of the mainstream society in which you live. People who want to "Stand Out", usually are standing outside while the party is going on inside.
And....I travel ALOT, see alot; experience many cultures other than just my native American culture and have decided that worldwide, as well in America that racism is NOT determined because of skin color or looks....it is determined by actions and culture. Unfortunately, skin color is the most obvious way to spot and prematurely judge individuals of cultures deemed "lower class". And is unforfunate, but life. People setting good examples in public not only reflects well on themselves but on their group in general.

my stepdad was racist, {i don't have anything to do with him anymore} and told me if i ever brought a black man home he'd make our lives hell, he also thought hitler was a great man with good ideas {i know i hate him too}, but i hate racist people, we are all the same except a skin pigmantation, i have olive skin, and have been called a 'paki' so many times, i hate it, how they was brought up isn't a excuse we have our own mind, how can you hate someone for no reason? if i dont like someone it's because what they have done to hurt me not their skin, every culture is racist to each other, i'm half greek and as i said above i was called a 'paki' at school in england because my olive skin, but when i went to see my grandad in greece, people commented that i was too white, and that i be better with blonde hair!
