Any roast meat needs to be slow cooked...
at 450 degrees you gonna burn in 30 minutes... and you dont want that!
cook it at 350 degrees... for 2 - 3 hours... even cover the pan with foil.... and for about the last 30 minutes... take the foil off... that way the outside will get nice and crispy...
Happy cooking!

Put that puppy in an oven proof pan filled with water about half way up. Cover and roast at 350F until it's falling apart (usually about 25 minutes per pound). When it is done, use the remaining liquid to make a gravy - add some of the hot liquid to a jar with cornstarch (about 5-6 Tbs) and mix until there are no lumps. You can strain it if the lumps won't go away. If you have lumps, it's probably because you added cornstarch to the liquid and not the other way around. Anyway, after you have the lump free base, add it to the remaining liquid that is simmering on the top of the stove in the pan you cooked the roast in. Serve with mashed potatoes and a bright green vegetable - green beans, brocolli, etc - or a salad.

I don't know BUT I DO KNOW -- never cook ANY meat at such a high temperature --- it will end up dry. Always cook meat with a meat thermometor and on low heat for a longer period of time. You're going to end up burning the outside without cooking the inside fully -- and it will be dry. Pork Roast is too expensive to mess up that way.

I always cook meat slowly, especially pork - much more yummy.
Cook it on about 300 - 350 Degrees F.
A 5lb lump of pork may take a rather long time, if you can cut it in half to cook it will be easier and take less time.
Really dont cook it too high, it will go dry and chewy.

That is a little high and the roast will burn on the outside long before it is cooked. Try 350 and 2 hours keep basting and turn once. Enjoy your roast.

Cooking it at 450 will ensure it dries out and will taste awful. Cook at 350F until the internal temperature is 165F or more...about 2 1/2 hours

You're going to incinerate it at 450.
Try 375 degrees for about 45-65 minutes.
