Would it hurt if someone were to cut off one of its pokey things on its tongue (if the cat stayed motionless for long enough) ?

In a nutshell: The abrasive surface of a cat’s tongue is covered with many tiny, hooked ‘papillae’ - almost like miniature teeth. These hooks have a dual purpose, enabling the cat to clean off any flesh from the bones of prey as well as enhancing grooming. I know how you feel, my cat sometimes licks my face out of affection - and I think it's sweet but I get annoyed by the rough tongue.

If you've evern bitten the inside of your mouth, you know that hurts, imagine cutting some of it off. Yes it would hurt and if I found out someone did this to a cat, I would report them for abuse.

Well lets put it this way...would it hurt you if you had a taste bud cut off your tongue? My guess is yes, so yes, it'd most likely hurt. (I'm glad to hear you'd never do it though)
