ok so i have by accedent (never do it on perpose) dropped and broke the base unit (what the speekers plug into). allough i still have the speakers
it is quite mashed up so i need a new one.

does anyone know where i can get just the base unit as i can't find one in comet. pc world. currys. dixons.
please help cos i still have the speekers and the speekers are really loud and have superb quality and it would be a real letdown to have to give them up

P.S.
they connect via some wires not a proper connector (i don't know the technical name for this connection)

Its called a Reciever and every electronics store on the planet sells them. You might not be able to get one with the DVD built in but geesh how much is a DVD player these days?

I think you might be out of luck. My base unit is broken and I have tried everywhere to buy a new one as I didn't want to go the expense of buying a whole new set. What make is yours as I have a sony and I contacted the Sony Centre who advised me that they could have a look at it for me for £50.00 but if I decided to have it repaired, the £50.00 would be deducted off the total price.
