You have a right to ask when standing before the Judge in court. You can ask how the speed was determined.

If you really were doing 45 and you know your cars odomoder is working correctly then ask for your day in court....Get a written testing of your speedo from your mechanic just for some backup amd present it ..... Do not act like a know it all or act stupidly in a court room with the judge !!! Nor should you come down too hard on the officer to make him or her look incompetent..... Say it slowly and make it short ... just say something like you thought it was a little unfair when you looked down and saw that you were only doing maybe somewhere between 45 and 50 by your speedometer .... If you are respectful of the officer and the Judge he will more often than not allow a reduction in the ticket ..... Your actions and the way you say your words will let him know you are being truthful.... you probably won't walk away with no ticket but it will be a smaller one ! Give the judge a chance to respect you for your honesty..... Unless of course you can prove by some miracle that you were only doing 45 which i doubt ! You will feel better for standing up for what you believe to be the truth and you have that right

Yes.
The officer is supposed to show you the actual radar reading, but most refuse to let you see it.
You can ask to see the radar maintenance and calibration log,all radar units are supposed to be sent in to a certified facility for calibration every 6 months-most cities don't do it because its expensive.
Also,a screw on the unit can be turned by the operator and give a false reading.
If you want to take the risk, you can go to court instead of paying the fine uncontested.
You can claim your speed was 45 according to your speedometer in court, but the officer can claim otherwise, but since the officer will have to produce evidence that you were actually speeding (the radar unit displaying the speed).
Most courts take the officers word over yours without proof of testimony.
You can ask for the officers license:check the expiration date and license class.
If it has expired or has the wrong class listed the ticket is void. It becomes a game of he claims -you claim.

1. YOU CAN ASK, BUT THAT'S JUST IT THEY DONT HAVE TO SHOW YOU.
2. THE THING ABOUT LASER OR RADAR, IT CAN GET YOU BEFORE YOU REALIZE YOU'VE BEEN GOT. YOU MORE THEN LIKELY WONT SEE THE OFFICER UNTIL YOU ARE WITHIN 800 OR SO FEET. BUT THE THE LASER CAN SHOOT UP TO JUST OVER 2700 FEET
3. YOU PROBABLY WERE DOING 45, AFTER U REALIZE THE POLICE WAS AHEAD OF YOU, THEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE, AND THEN YOU LOOKED DOWN AND YOU WERE DOING 45

punch that cop in the face and drive off.
actually you should pretend your lost (that works for me)
and just tell him you didnt realize you were going that fast (works for me)
but if you insist on not getting the ticket the cop DOES have to show it to you. the other kid is wrong.
in some states the radar even has to be calibrated within a certain number of days.
however if you show up to court and the cop shows up your probably going to lose.

Yes, they can show you the radar screen, but I guess that bold be rigged. It;s generally your word against theirs. Might as well just pay it and get on with life.

Sure you can ask. He/She may show you or just tell you to take it up with the court if you were cited.
