My ignition does not work, initially the car wouldn't shut off, I had to disconnect the distributor wire. Now the ignition feels like there is nothing there and it won't start. I've tried replacing the ignition key switch and the ignition switch block under the dash on the steering column. I've concluded that the ignition shaft is broken between the 2. I have no idea how to replace the shaft but I think I need to take the steering wheel off ( maybe not). Can someone tell me where I can find this information online or maybe help me out. Thank you for your time.

Go to your local chain auto parts store (Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc.) and purchase a "Haynes" manual. It will cost you about $15 - 16 dollars but one repair done by you and it will have paid for itself.

if your car have tilt steering ,good luck, ill suggest take it to a ford shop ,,unless they give you set estimate you could bring it to any mechanic if they ask 2 to 3 hours take it,,

give you some tips....
battery off
switch block should always on
key cylinder on position
do not force any thing if it wont go in because of the tips,,
use your imagination,,this is to make sure it is align, when you put it back...

the part that always break on tilt steering is the lever that look like the sign on the Russian flag,,

tools needed,,,,small screwdriver,ice pick,,dull puncher,,and regular mechanic tools

as i said this is only thrue if you have a tilt steering,,

if regular steering, usually the linkages just came off ,need to bend slightly,,when you put it back,,

i know this is not complete,id like to help more but I'm only a one finger typist

Ram the bumper with another car and make the airbag blow up. After that there should be a retaining nut visible, just remove that nut and pop the steering wheel off.
