Are there times when you shouldn't even consider a claim? Once you've analyzed the claim and found it irrational, should you still be open to it as a possibility?

I think that's what we call being gullible.

people have a natural bias against anything they do not already know. the reason why most people have a narrow view of reality is that it requires a lot of energy and intelligence to analyze every possible claim, to determine its validity. Even if a claim is true, how does it fit in the over all view of your life. what possible use is it to you, to know it? the answer is 99% of the time it is of no use at all. people instinctively harbor their resources in a conservative manner. so they can use it on the bare necessities of survival. there is only so much time in a day. and never enough time to waste on unproductive speculation.

and everyone thinks their minds are open, when they are all closed. so no its not possible to have to open a mind.
but if you mind were really to open, when would you have the time to do anything productive?

success in life = think 10% and Action 90% of the time.

I've never found the terms "open-minded" and "closed-minded" very meaningful. Any worthwhile definition of "open-mined" should address the way one can suspend one's own beliefs in order to see the value of rival views, at least their value for other people. I don't think it means abandoning one's own cognitive faculties or beliefs. Given this definition, I don't think one can be too open-minded other than wasting too much time on trivial mental exercises.

Enter the Atheist ... believing their minds are so open and enlightened but missing the simplicity of God's truth.

Of course it is possible. If it's too open, your brains fall out. How else to explain liberals?

As long as you understand that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, it's okay to be open to anything.

It's called religion, lol, but seriously there is a line which shouldn't be crossed in terms of gullibility.
