Binge drinking to my knowledge is usually associated with people who don't drink during the week but drink heavily on weekends. Or really anyone who doesn't usually drink and then at one sitting drinks a lot. It's when it becomes a pattern that it's usually referred to as binge drinking if you do it every weekend or a couple of times a month.

Or before you are considered an alcoholic.

Ok, the day before last I drank 45 units of alcohol, the next day only 12.5 units, today so far 20 units, but from next Monday to Friday, I will drink nothing (or no more than 8 units perhaps) because I am working.

The 45 units is not uncommon in my life, and that could be considered a binge, but add to that the lower rate of daily drinking and many would consider me alcoholic (myself included).

A binge is one or two days heavy drinking once or twice a week, or month, or year, as we can all binge sometimes.

When it gets regular it's a problem.

Sorry if I rambled a bit.

Good luck kid xx

A full bottle of wine in a night or 1/2 of a fifth of something stronger. A six-pack of beer - it all depends on yoru physiology. But if you are getting too drunk to walk or passing out or blacking out - then you are "binge"ing. Does that help? One glass or two or a shot or two now and then is normal - constantly getting plastered is being an alcoholic. Being a "social drinker" can be the same as being an alcoholic - it depends on how "social" you get and how often. If you are drinking because your friends do, you might just be a group of drunks. If you "need" to drink, you are an alcoholic.

A binge is when you go out and stay drunk for a day or two. Three days is a favorite, for some reason. What you drink or how much the rest of the time is not part of a binge/ bat/ tear.

Binge drinking is a common pattern of excessive alcohol use in the United States. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism defines binge drinking as a pattern of drinking that brings a person’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to 0.08 grams percent or above. This typically happens when men consume more than 4 drinks and women consume more than 3 drinks in about 2 hours (1).

Most people who binge drink are not alcohol dependent.

According to national surveys:

* Approximately 92% of US adults who drink excessively, report binge drinking in the past 30 days (2).
* Although college students commonly binge drink, 70% of binge drinking episodes involve adults over age 25 (3).
* The rate of binge drinking among men is 3 times the rate of women (4).
* Binge drinkers are 14 times more likely to report alcohol-impaired driving than non-binge drinkers (3).
* About 90% of the alcohol consumed by youth under the age of 21 in the United States is in the form of binge drinks (5).
* About 75% of the alcohol consumed by adults in the United States in the form of binge drinks (5).
* The proportion of current drinkers that binge is highest in the 18 to 20 year old groups (52.1%) (6).

5 or more drinks at a time is usually binge drinking. It depends. Some people can drink 150 beers a month and be ok. Others drink 2 and get in a car and kill kids. You need to look out for yourself.

Binge drinking does not have anything as much as it has with drinking a lot of it fast in a short period of time and getting so drunk you are impaired to the point of passing out. I didn't drink very often, but when I did, I drank to get drunk fast. I do no longer drink.

There is not a set rate in theropy for all states. But if you see a pattern of strong drinking which leaves your motor skills and emotions effected for a 24 hour period, you may want to think about leaving alcohol alone for a month to break the cycle. If this reacures, then seek professional help before you loose years of you life to a addictive life style.

Binge drinking is when you leave all your drinking to a couple of days and just go overboard.
