magnesium doesn't block cortisol. a deficiency of magnesium may allow cortisol levels to be elevated higher than normal. an abundance of magnesium will not decrease normal cortisol levels.

the only way to "block" cortisol is if a competing molecule such as a molecule of insulin or testosterone attaches to the AR receptor thus "blocking" cortisol from attaching to that receptor site.
