Oh, and that should be "indigenous Americans." I'm a native (that is, born here), but I am descended, as far as I know, entirely from people who immigrated, post-Mayflower.

They had a very strict policy at one time. There big mistake was bringing bows and arrows to the negotiaton meetings.

It wouldn't have mattered. They didn't have guns or the numbers to enforce any policies & they had no tolerance for the new diseases brought from Europe.
