St. Paul wasn't: "No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified." 1 Cor. 9:27

How does this mesh with the beliefs of the "Saved"?

I'm 100% sure I'd be dead. I won't be worm food though if my will is carried out to my wishes. I will be ashes, and not put in some bottle either, but tossed out to be free.

Training his body not to sin, to commit fornication, so that he might not disqualify himself from preaching by commiting such sins against his own body. This has nothing to do with salvation. Paul said himself that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Look at verse 26, training his body as a runner and a boxer, being in control of ones self, a preacher is held to a higher standard than you or me, It has been said that Bro. Billy Graham would not even ride in a car alone with another woman unless his wife was with him just to make sure no one could accuse him. If you have any comments send me an email, I love discussing the Bible!!

Hello,

Always saved is a bad teaching rejected by the majority of Christians.

A paradox can be defined as a seeming contradiction.
The biggest one I see are those who believe in eternal security - once saved always saved!
Christ does say that I am the vine, you are the branches and you only get to the father by me. Also he says that he who believes in me will never die. Now from there he goes on repeatedly to say things like if you do not forgive your brother and even enemies, you will not be forgiven; he will ask you did you cloth me when I was naked, visit me in prison, welcome me as a stranger, visit me when I was sick, feed me when I was hungry and the list goes on to say that under duress if you deny his reality or existance he will deny you to God and, oh yes, do not forget about the sin against the Holy Spirit.

Now they say, if you are a con man or liar, the biggest risk you can take is to change your story. The way I see things, along with the majority of Christians is that there are built in requirements to achieve Jesus' promise for eternal life.
Saying praise Jesus; he is my savior and getting baptized is a first step but not all he requires. Living according to his teachings by trying to do good and avoiding sin, in toher words, works is a big part of the equation.

I am not afraid to take the risk here and say that if this eternal security were true then it proves that Jesus himself is a paradox and perhaps the greatest con man and liar in history since he is totally contradicting himself. Those who believe in eternal security and teach it are doing a great job in illustrating the Paradox.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

I think Paul was still struggling with doubt that many do and also a strong upbringing in "Have you been good enough?"
I believe I will go on to live eternally, not necessarily in heaven but on the new earth as it is described in Revelation 20 and 21.

No Man is above falling, not even Paul. I am 100% sure I will not be left behind. Jesus gave me a Rapture dream after many months of praying and whining about it... I know what it's like to do 35,000 feet in 7 seconds! Straight up. Wow. But I also know, I am not above falling either.

NO and anyone who does deludes themselves. Of course it's a comforting delusion and as long as you don't try and push it on other people you should be allowed to maintain it.
IMVHO Saul of tarsus killed what would have been a very nice belief system if the radical socialist Gnostics had won out. Anything "St Paul" said is not part of my bible!

No I am not a 100% sure that I will go to Heaven .
I pray to God to have mercy upon me for I know that I am a sinner and have done many wrongs . I know I belive in Our Lord Jesus Christ and I Know we have a Merciful God and I also Know that we will all be judged by the Holy Father .
Praise Be the Lord

dear Doliath, This meshes perfectly with the idea of eternal salvation. Paul here is clearly speaking of the reward of belivers when they will be rewarded for how they serve God as Christians who have been saved and called out by His grace. there are two judgements, One Judgement for those who have not Christ, and another fro those who have christ. we know that for the Non christian they wil be judged for there sin (transgression of God's law), and will recive the eternal Justice for breaking his law. but for belivers who have seen thesmselves in the light of Gods law abnd have confessed and forsook there sin too trust in jesus, we will be given the judgement of works. Hope this explanation helps.
God Bless

Disqualified from what? It's really not a good idea to pull out just one verse and try to interpret it, generally a verse is part of a thought or a story.

Yes, I am certain. Paul was talking about not feeling 'worthy' enough to go. John 3:16 points out that you recieve ETERNAL LIFE by believing in Jesus.

Be Bissfull..
Let me tell you a secret.. Its you, your self, who can decide to be in heaven or hell... and not wait for it till you die but experience it right now.

Heaven or hell is not geographical as we are made to believe, and are led by fear ( of hell) or greed ( of heaven)

But it is psychological. You don’t do good things and end up in heaven or do bad things and end up in hell. You do good things because you are already in heaven. And those who do bad things are doing so because they are already in hell.

So decide if you are in hell or heaven and create the ambience around you, from your side..
