I think they called it.... "me-grab-ugs-head, and-bash-into-floor, because-he-ate-my-dinner, and-looked-at-female-I-want" Do
Seriously, though, I would think they grappled, wrestled, most likely bit, grabbed whatever rock, stick, club, or other available weapon they could find instinctively to use against their opponent. I would also think that they fought for survival reasons, i.e. to run off interlopers from the cave down the trail, or when attacking other clans to take whatever resources (food, fuel, clothing, women) that they wanted, needed, and didn't have.

Lol Schnurrbart. I thought you we're referring to actual Chinese animal styles before I read on. Haha. Imagine cavemen fighting with a crane or praying mantis style.
I would say boxing and wrestling though combined with some "I need to get the f*ck out of here" when the cheetah shows up.

If you judge from the oldest cave paintings, it appears boxing and wrestling both have fairly good claims to being the oldest sport fighting styles. Interestingly, cave-dwelling humanoids don't appear to have combined the two, although the Greeks did, in the Pankration. For serious fighting, they used weapons, so that's outside your question.

Wrestling. It's the most natural instinctive way of fighting. Even the earliest of civilizations practiced it, like the Sumerian culture, which pre-dates Egyptian culture by at least 2000 years, showed records of their warriors engaging in wrestling matches. The most famous is recorded in the epic of Gilgamesh, where the historical King of Kish supposedly won a wrestling match against a half-man half-creature named Enkidu sent to kill him, but who later became his best friend.

Purely instinctively fighting.
Think of the first things you'd instinctively do in a fight, the fact that they were cavemen doesn't mean that they couldn't learn a system of combat, they probably watched others fight and saw what was effective, and use the "monkey sees, monkey does" principle.

I assume they fought like animals, and I don't mean "Crane" style or anything like that. Tooth and nail wrestling and flailing to the death. And before they were human they already had weapons.
