The major difference between models is the engine. The base model only has a 6 cylinder engine, whereas the GT has a 4.6L V-8. It has 300hp.

I used to have one, and really liked the way it handled and performed. Wasn't too worried about the gas mileage, but if you kept your foot out of the gas pedal, then it got good mileage.

good luck.

Well the mustang for around 19K is the V6 mustang. You can tell becuase the v6 has only 2 headlights and the gt has 4. It it good on gas and gets around 23mpg on the road. Good looking car. Only has 210hp. If you want something faster and better looking then go with the gt. Which is around 28K it has a 4.6L300hp V8 engine. It gets around 20 mpg on the road. This is a very good car.
Some drawbacks for the mustang is maybe the gas i guess. There really arnt to many things. If you are not racing then there really isent to much to worry about.

Okay first off, there is really no small differences between a coupe and a convertible, besides the top (one is moveable the other is not). There is nothing wrong with Mustangs. They are great on gas mileage, and they are a good racing car. i race my 1978 Mustang Cobra at the race track every other weekend. They run good, and they are very reliable.

Your best bet is to spend that 19k on a 2-year old GT. I have experience with new Mustangs from V6 to Roush 427R and there is a huge difference....avoid the V6 and sink your coin in a GT!
