I know what you mean. It's called 'lucid dreaming' and is often discussed in paranormal circles. There's plenty of guides to it. The trick is to train yourself not to startle yourself out of the dream state when you realise you're conscious.

When I was younger I would have dreams and in the middle of them I would relies I am having a dream and I would controlle the rest of the situations. I am pretty sure this is what you’re talking about. It is something I lost as I got older.
If you are talking along the lines of not having dreams then look into the foods you are eating. Eating, and the things you do before going to bed I here play a big role on stuff like that.

I'm not sure if you can control your dreams but sometimes I control it by thinking of something I want to think of before I go to sleep and it just becomes a dream. I would forget what happened in my dream when I wake up again though.

You can train yourself to do something called "lucid dreaming." Before you fall asleep, tell yourself that anything that happens is going to be a dream. Eventually, you'll realize when you're dreaming and can then change or control the content of your dream. I did this a few times and then I stopped, because I'm not sure if it's healthy. The reason is that dreams are illustrations of our subconscious thoughts and desires. If we control their manifestation in our dreams, they stay submerged and this might be harmful to mental stability. I don't want to fool with my brain, but if you insist, give it a try. It won't happen right away, but eventually, you'll be able to take control.

do not think about the thing you want to dream about right before you go to sleep
think about stupid things that you would prefer not to dream about
that's how you get the topic you want to dream about. then, controlling them within... well, you need to realize you are in a dream and tht is just a skill u need to develop
hope tht helps

Both of my kids eventually came to me complaining about bad dreams. With both of them I told them to simply push the dream in a different direction. They BOTH gave me the same identical response. It involved alot of skepticism.
See, I told them to simply remind themselves just before going to sleep that they COULD control their dreams.
Works for me.

Sounds like a stupid question (sorry ) to me. There is no way to control your dreams.....dreams come from one's sub-conscious....and sometimes can come from God, according to the Bible, but there is no mention in the Bible of a person
controlling their own dreams. If you are trying to do so, I would say you are trying to control some type of sub-conscious
thing, which borders along the lines of witchcraft or sorcery, or
hypnotism, all of which are warned against by the Lord Jesus Christ. Stay away from it. If your dreams are nightmares, I would suggest reading the Bible before going to sleep.
