No, it is because you can actually achieve your dreams here. It is because a man can live as he chooses here rather than under the thumb of some pervert imam in a beard. It is because the poorest of our poor live better than most of the world does. It is because we give more to other nations than anyone one the planet, even to those undeserving of our charity. But most of all, it is because we are willing to spend our treasure and our blood to help others achieve these things. Anyone who says different does not know America.

The majority of Americans say that America is the best country because they've never been anywhere else.
Even the ones who do travel often still say this because America is 'home' to them. This is normal. People feel more comfortable when they are in familiar surroundings, so the return to 'normalcy' when coming home from a trip abroad is a nice feeling.
But this is the case with people all over the world; they will naturally say that their home country is the best. Wherever they are from, that place is 'home,' and it is home that inspires those patriotic feelings.
If you want an unbiased look at which countries are better than others in terms of being good places to live, you could look at the United Nations' "Human Development Index," (link below) which tracks all kinds of data from different countries and puts them into a score. The USA is always in the top twenty, but I don't think it's ever been in the top five.

Well, travel the world and find out for yourself! Unfortunately, there is a lot of filth, degradation and socially-accepted corruption in much of the developing world, and comparatively little in the western world. Not to say it's perfect, but it's better than much of what's out there.
Among western nations, America has one of the highest standards of living and has unquestionably the most social mobility within the class system. The system encourages entrepreneurial behavior more so than many western nations, and in that sense, the nation as a whole encourages and rewards people who succeed through hard work.
Health care, life expectancies and social inequalities lag behind other western nations, but the people you're going to meet on the web largely aren't from the groups that suffer thise problems to a debilitating extent.
And, more simply, if it wasn't pretty good here, we wouldn't have so many people coming here to make a new life for their families.

To be honest, the people saying that are prob only saying that because they live there. And they want whatever they have, to be better.
Alot of americans say USA is better than Canada, And alot of Canadians say Canada is better than USA.
When really, if you look at it.. there are some pluses in both places.
Canada: Free health care, Free religion choices, known for being peaceful, Don't get sent off to war as much, and so on.
America: They had a higher dollar, which has now changes, they have more options of where to live/ what life style.

Perhaps many people around the world see America as a land of prosperity, freedom and privilege.
Unfortunately, America has also become a land of hubris, arrogance, avarice and selfishness. We represent only 5% of the world' population, yet we squander 55% of all the Earth's natural resources.
Like all other great empires, America will eventually collapse (probably sooner rather than later). Our insane President G.W. Bush has put American taxpayers trillions of dollars in debt; there is a very strong possibility that our nation will experience its worst economic depression in history shortly after Bush leaves office; and our monopolistic, corrupted two-party political system allows voters no real choice of candidates or freedom of expression as to who should lead our country.
Millions of young children go to bed hungry every night while millions more feast on $100-per-plate dinners in extravagant five-star restaurants. While there is almost always a broad division between the rich and poor in most societies, it's more pronounced here because of our supposed belief in total equality and equal opportunity. It is one thing to "say" we believe in equal opportunity; it's quite another thing to demonstrate such belief by ensuring that schools, for example, are equally equipped whether they're located in a wealthy suburban area or a rat-infested ghetto region.
Those who "love" America actually "love" the dream our nation portrays. While it's true that many people are able to come from poverty-stricken cultures and amass fame and fortune in the U.S., it's just as true that many millions of people are stuck in generational poverty, unable to escape because of our unequal social treatments and prejudices, bias, bigotries and narcissistic attitudes toward people of color; people who worship different gods; people of gender, or people from various socio-economic-political backgrounds. Too many of us have adopted Ronald Reagan's motto; "All for One....ME!" and have chosen not to be helpful, supportive or accommodating to those from lesser cultural backgrounds or family heritages.
While America is still a great land, its deterioration as a powerful, compassionate, caring nation is imminent. Within a generation, the wonderful U.S.A. will have become a third-rate nation as China takes over and becomes the planet's superpower. -RKO- 11/23/07

Well the economy is great for one thing, and you are, from lack of better words, FREE there! There is nobody to tell you what your religion is. Heck they even let you bear arms and weapons and let you insult the government. I promise you try to insult Kim Jong il in his country and you are going to be dead meat.
