I live in a small(and horrible town). The only decent jobs belong to DOC and Bars(or religious). I have thought of joining the air-force as a "all out" solution to my problemes, but seaing as I have a GED and cannot score a 68 on the millitary tests (due to lack of attendents at school). I am in a pickle. The navy and army are not for me. I have many aspirations but not attainable in my situation. I am attending school,(with little money), and my question to you is.
How can I change my life.(huge question isn't it)
What I mean is, IS their another career, like the millitary, that will compleatly re-formate my life. With only my will power and asperations to guide me? Something realistic and possible!
And to all the sierous answers(that actually try to awnser this) I commend you. Thanks

You are aware of what you don't have, but it may help you more to become aware of the strengths you do have!
You clearly are intelligent, but need additional education - which you are working on.
You are honest in assessing your situation.
You are willing to work, make an effort, to improve your situation.
You are an optimist - you recognize the possibility of achieving more with your life.
These four attributes can take you a long, long way in life!
Everyone has a purpose, a reason for being here. When you find your purpose, whatever it is, you will find a way to excel at what you do.
Purpose is driven by the things you are passionate about. What are you passionate about? What do you love to do? What do you hate? What 'pisses you off'? These are all clues to finding your purpose in life.
When you figure out your passion in life, connect it with helping or serving others - that becomes your life's purpose.
For now, you may not have any idea what your purpose or passions are. That is O.K. Your current desire for 'more' is pushing you in the right direction. Follow that craving for more - it won't lead you wrong.
Also for now, study! Read! Explore the world of information we live in. Read books from the library. Read the newspaper, magazines, the internet. Continue the education and growth of your mind by reading.
Read self-help books. Read the classics. Read books about finding your passion and purpose. Read about sports, business, health, history, science, geography, the arts, automotive repair, hang-gliding, shoe-repair - read about anything that interests you!
And, continue with your education, in whatever direction seems interesting to you.
Lastly, do not look down on the minimal opportunities before you. USE THEM. Use them to build your future. They are actually a gift, even though they may appear to be a minimal gift. They are the path, your stepping stones to your future. Take them!
Best wishes and good luck.

Check into entry level banking. You can then work your way up to management. Leave a copy of your resume with the manager of every business in town. See them in person. Make an appointment. Know something about the business when you go there so you can ask intelligent questions and then make them sell you on their business. Stress your public relations and communication skills. Don't forget the Chamber of Commerce or Tourist Bureau. Every community needs to promote itself and there are good (hard to fill) jobs to do this.

Hi good question.
If you are 18+ you may want to consider starting your own business such as a home-based one. Go with something creditable such as Pampered Chef or Mary Kay--both have been around for a LONG time & have a good name.
As well, they will train you for free!! & Both are quite profitable if you don't order a LOT of inventory right away & aren't afraid of working hard!!
Another way to go would be to go to school for a year, and then reapply to the military. Also if u are a USA citizen--try the Peace Corp.
RedCross or other international organizations

Consider getting out of town. I lived in a crummy place growing up and it never occurred to me that it wasn't good for me and that I could go some place more suitable. (I was a nature freak living in the middle of Los Angeles.
Have you considered the Coast Guard as a military option? I have heard it is a wonderful branch of the service to work in.
Another option is for you to consider attending a police or sheriff's academy. This will also have the structure that you feel you need to be successful. Ideally structure occurs from within, but sometimes people need some exterior structure until they learn to think for themselves. I was a wild hare coming out of high school and I think being in the service might have saved me.
