it is a 42" 1080p hdtv. it has 2 hdmi inputs, also has component jacks. i am going to get an hddvr, but what should i get hdmi or component? why?

HDMI is the future. It carries both the video and audio in 1 cable.

Some people would say component wont work for the highest resolution of HD (1080p) but this is un-true. Good HD cables work find for all of the signals.

But good component cables are about $50 from BlueJeans and you need to add an audio cable. The same length HDMI cable is $38 and no audio cables are needed.

So HDMI is cheaper, carries both video and audio so thats why I suggest you go with a HDMI hookup.

Doesn't matter; if the TV accepts either, that's all that matters. I'd probably pick HDMI to keep the cable count down.

HDMI would give you the best picture. Component video would be my next choice.
