by November 30th if he is leaving the country for six weeks? We just received that request from our adult paperboy with the note "Blessings from my baby." How would you respond?

If he can afford to leave the country for six weeks, he doesn't need a tip.

Absolutely it's rude. There are no excuse to solicit a tip, especially from an adult. To be empathetic, apparently an adult paper"boy", def. not a pc term- but that's a different topic, is struggling for cash. Being poor is no excuse for bad manners. If you accommodate this adult, you will be reinforcing bad behavior. If you feel pressured, tell him you'll have his tip for him when he returns from his trip. You can even offer blessings to his baby......

I used to have an adult deliver my paper.I told him i would have to write him a check for the amount owing,as I did.nt have enough cash in the house when he came to collect. He said he would accept the check as long as I gave him a tip.So I said no way and told him to come back the next day and I would have the cash for him.And yes I called the newspaper and complained, and also cancelled my paper.

you should only give a tip if you feel his service has been good, it is optional but it's good manner to tip, but it's even worse manner to ask for a tip. just wondering why would he say 'blessings from my baby"...

It is rude for anybody to ask for a tip. If you feel the need to tip, tip. If not, then don't.
