I've heard we go straight to judgement. But I've also heard we go to heaven. I think I heard JW's believe that you sit in your grave until judgement day. I can't believe that and I need help from good Bible quoting Christians that can help me here. Do we go to heaven until the judgemnt when Christ sets up his 1000 year reign on earth? Or do we go straight to judgement as God has no concept of time? But if thats so, it implies that we sit in the grave until then. I don't like the idea of sitting in the grave. Is there Biblical proof that our spirit/soul seperates from the body at death? All good Christian answers are welcome. Pentecostal answers are more than welcome as well as i'm pentecostal. If you're JW can you please say so?

The question of what happens after death can be confusing. The Bible is not explicitly clear on when a person will reach their final eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, after death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23).

This is where it can get confusing as to what happens after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all those in Hell being cast into the lake of fire. Revelation chapters 21-22 describe a New Heaven and New Earth. Therefore, it seems that until the final resurrection, after death a person resides in a “temporary” Heaven and Hell. A person's eternal destiny will not change, but the precise "location" of a person's eternal destiny will change. At some point after death, believers will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). At some point after death, unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

We do not sit in the grave until that time. We are into the timeless realm and don't sit anywhere. We are timeless during that period. There is no 1000 year reign unless it is on the earth and sky that will be consumed with fire and burned up. When Jesus comes back we will meet Him in the air and be with Him like He was seen leaving the earth. I am a Christian that believes in the Bible and believe I must rightly divide the Bible. We shall not die, but we shall all be like Him.
1Jn 3:1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
1Co 15:50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.
1Co 15:51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

Most of the book of Revelation has already been fulfilled and is not talking about the end of the world.

First our immaterial soul and spirit will be separated from our physical body. Second, we will immediately receive the judgment that will determine our eternal destiny. Those who have trusted in Christ's payment on the cross for our sins will enter into eternal life in the presence of God. 2 Corinthians 5:8 states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." There will be no delay in a state of unconsciousness many call "soul sleep." We will immediately be in God's presence.
Second, the soul in heaven is made perfect in holiness and our old sin nature is eradicated. Hebrews 12:23 mentions "the spirits of righteous men made perfect." The spirits of the saints are in heaven and they have been made perfect. The struggle with sin that Paul described and all Christians fight comes to an end forever when we, after death, enter our glorified state.
Those who reject this gift, will receive what they have chosen, eternity separated from God in Hell. Hebrews 9:27 states, "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." There is no second chance and there is no cycle of reincarnation. Our eternal destiny is determined by the decision we make for Christ here on earth.

jews believe you wait in heaven for the mesiah. But, although i am a jew, i have a different take on what happens after death. Think about where you are right now. You are a small part of the universe. When you die, do you fall off the face of the universe?? Of course not. Think of before you were born. You were in a sperm cell in your father, and an egg cell in your mother. you were a part of them. And they were a part of there parents, and their parents, etc. So you have always existed, but you were scattered all over the universe. If you have kids, they are literally a part of you, and their kids are a small part of you, so you will always be scattered around the universe. Even if you never have kids, you will be in peoples memories, and you will still be part of the universe. So really, there is no such thing as death. A better word may be "transition".

Where the Bible says we go to Heaven:

John 14:1-3, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (NIV)

Philippians 3:20-21, "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his."

1 Peter 1:3-5, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." (NIV)

Among others ...

The Bible uses the term "asleep" or "sleeping" when referring to the physical body of the believer at death. It is important to note that the term is used solely for believers. The dead body appears to be asleep when it is separated at death from the spirit and soul of the believer. The spirit and soul, which are eternal, are united with Christ at the moment of the believer's death (2 Corinthians 5:8). The body of the believer, which is mortal flesh, perishes, or "sleeps" until the day it is transformed and reunited to the believer at the final resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:43; Philippians 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:51)

1 Corinthians 15:50-53
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. (NIV)

I'm not of any religion but I know my scriptures well John 3:13 states no man has gone to heaven but Jesus, Daniel 12: 1-3 states Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake. The bible states this, god told Adam that he was from the dust of the ground and to the dust of the ground he would return.

Everyone who died before Christ has no hope of heaven.

Jesus requirements into the kingdom are simple.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."

Moses, Job and Noah among others were not baptized. So they do not met the requirements to enter the kingdom of God. So what is the point of them being faithful?

Jesus answered this by example. His ministry was to heal the sick and raise the dead. Did the dead go to heaven?

No. They were brought back to life to live on the earth. That is the purpose of human kind. To restore earth the way it was ment to.

Gen 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion..."

Gen 1:28 "God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:"

Revelation says that we all stay in the grave until judgment.

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

Dear Joy, from my studies of the Bible, I find that it clearly staes that we immediately go too be with the Lord when we die. Now, there will be a time when our physical bodies are resurrected and are made anwe and will be givne too us, but unitl then the BIble says "too be absent from the Body is too be present with the lord". The Apostle paul gladely stated "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).
but the real question we sohuld be asking is How do we get too heaven how to we escape Gods Justice? The Bible says if we have transgressed His law (ten commandments) by lying, stealing, looking with lust, using his Holy name in vain, or idolatry, then we have angered him by our sin. the Bible states that "God Judges the righteous, and is angry with the wicked every day." Psalm 7:11&12. The Punishment we deserve fro breaking His law is hell, But God who is rich in mercy sent his son jesus too suffer and die for our sin. Its as simple as this "we broke the Law and jesus paid the fine". Now what must we do too recive everlasting life? the Bible says we Must confess and forsake our sin and trust in jesus alone as we would trust a parachute. the Moment we do God will reveal himself and grant everlasting life too all who call upon His name.
God Bless

Hon, To be absent from this body means to be WITH the Lord.. However, there is another heaven that Jesus went to prepare for us and when he comes back he takes us and the folks who have already passed over and we ALL go to the NEW Heaven. Read the last two verses of Revelations. Everything you need to know is right there.

Peace & God Bless from Texas. <><
