Now I'm not favoring ANY sides here .. keep in mind I'm not challenging any certain group, but atheists .. why are there so many of them here?

This category is called Religion (atheism is NOT a religion) & Spirituality (atheism denounces spirituality's existence). I don't mean to scrutinize trivial things, but why do so many atheists feel they need to hang around here & compete with Christians if they don't believe in the idea of this category anyway? It seems like a never-ending battle between two groups that will never be won....

What are your thoughts?

ROTFLMAO! You should have known this would happen, yes. In fact, you did know, on an unconscious level, and probably wanted it to happen.

Think of it as an "opposites attract" theory where the atheists can't resist coming to taunt the religious fanatics...

Haven't you ever posted a question "For guys only" or "Ladies only answer please" and the wrong gender is all clicking onto it to see what the question was and a bunch are answering even though you didn't want that gender to answer?

I was a little surprised at how many of your answerers were bemoaning the fact that this question has been asked and answered many times so, go ahead, go ask another question that's been asked to death: Am I pregnant?

My answer: no, you're not pregnant because you're male, LOL!

I don't think it's a battle, so I see no need for a "winner". I just find it nice to be around so many atheists, as there are so few of us in the US.
Also, as will be pointed out to you by many others, spirituality does not necessarily refer to a god. Atheism is the lack of belief in a Deity. Where an atheist goes from there is his/her decision.
Atheism is not a religion (as you pointed out), but atheism has a direct correlation with religion; that is atheism is defined using a religious entity. Therefore atheism has virtually EVERYTHING to do with religion.

I consider myself to be spiritual. I also find this subject of great interest because even though I may not believe in gods or participate in religious activities, I believe that religion has a great impact on the human race. I'm very curious as to why and how that is. One place to start in search for these answers would be to study the subject, thus brining me here.

Its also fantastic to see what people believe.

As to why this category seems to be dominated by Christians and Atheists;culture.

Peace:-)

Because the topics at hand are still about religion and spirituality. So what if atheism is seen as the negation of these things? You cannot have a full discussion of any issue without including contrary opinions. In my view, the atheists here play a valuable role.

I am an atheist. I participate on Yahoo! Answers R&S because I have knowledge to share in the form of answers to specific questions. I know much about various religions since analyzing religions has been a hobby of mine for several years.

I am also a resource to refute the lies told about atheists in this forum.

Atheism does not denounce spirituality's existence. Maybe you lack understanding of why they are here due to that misunderstanding.

Beyond that,....

The *topic* of this board is religion and spirituality. That doesn't mean that it is for religious and spiritual folks. Anyone is welcome here to discuss these topics. It's not an exclusive safe haven for religious/spiritual folks.

Since many things that affect the world today are done with religious beliefs as a core reason I think it is wise for all people to read and discuss the topics posted on this board.

I know there are some likable people who are Atheists. The trolls who come here to mock and insight are just that trolls to be ignored. I have asked for prayer and even atheists answered with well wishes.

Well there are unworthy commoners in the royalty section... there are humans in the cats section... there are non-musicians in the music section. One can discuss religion without being part of a religion.

"atheism denounces spirituality's existence"

That's not true. Atheists can be religious and/or spiritual. They can also have opinions on these topics.

I think that you should have searched for "why are atheists in the RS section?" before you posted this.
