How about something to decorate the garden? I think Spiegel might still have garden decor. Like huge suns that hang on the fence or side of the house. Or a sundial, or a birdbath. Personalcreations.com has small paving stones you can personalize with her name or family's name. As for the kitchen, that can be tough sometimes. Is there anything she complains about needing to be replaced? My hubby got me a digital scale for my birthday and I love it! And that was only $25. Pottery Barn has those wrought iron candle holder centerpieces that only use votive candles. My cousin got that last Christmas and her friend told me it was only $80 it looked so elegant.

Kitchen gadgets are always are good idea. Wooden spoon, spatulas, cooking spoons, etc. Or something to work in the garden. Personally you can never have too many items to prune limbs and plants with.

A membership to Barnes and Nobel . She can browse the thousands of books, movies, and music and find a gardening or cooking book of her choice.

Either a nice herb garden set-up, or a huge assortment of seeds, from vegetables to herbs to fruits, etc., and a nice cookbook.

She's your mother and you've known her all your life.....and you don't know what to get her.......I know exactly how you feel......shopping for my mom is IMPOSSIBLE too.......I have two simple words for you: GIFT CERTIFICATE to either a local high end kitchen wares store (like Sur la Table, Crate & Barrel, etc...) or a local high end garden center (like Armstrongs) and she can decide for herself what her perfect gift is......You can NEVER go wrong with a gift certificate.....
