as long as the question is not offensive in its context, why do people feel a need to report questions that conflicts with there personal opinions, as long as the question does not call some one a name or tell someone they are less than inteligent it should not be concidered a violation.........like my question on why questions regarding religious views on homosexuality always seeme to be deleted. there was no abusing people who chose to be gay in the question but some stuck up snob who felt thier opinion was injepardy or couldnt handle an opinion that was different than thiers reported it even though it did not break Y/A rules..........this question wont be up long either......probably because some coward wants to report it cause it isnt covered in thier own opinion..........

....its not that simple, why would you disguise a question with a hidden message and expect it not to have an impact.I love questions that make you think ,give insight and tell me something I've never thought about before(maybe funny). Not everyone is as clever as you are, theres always someone who tries to backslide a racial remark, or promote something ugly in an under handed way.
I thought in Y&A you can ask a question ,get specific info or state an opinion.Just because we don't agree doesn't make you wrong.
Oh hell what do i know .I here for the food!

I totally AGREE (sorry about the rant)

Yahoo gets carried away sometimes. I have "ask" non offensive question and got a violation. Now get this....I said I like to drive a Chevy better than a Ford and I got a violation. Why I ask? Yahoo said "You have offended people in the yahoo community". At that point I never took this board in a serious manner again. BUT!! When someone said "Foreign cars should be destroyed" Yahoo said that was ok. So figure that one out.

I think you ask a good question. It is kind of against the whole idea of a question and answer forum if you report all people who hold opinions different than your own. It becomes more a personal blog at that point.

nope reporting is thoroughly pointless any procedures. I lost a account on point 7 to and that i grew to become into purely helping somebody with a anti-virus question so i'm not sure who or why i indignant. i do no longer rfile until eventually its an exceedingly undesirable subject like kiddy porn could be one time the place i could rfile! like the am i warm, aviator video games or something petty like that i under no circumstances rfile on. everybody is purely desirous to have exciting. i'm surely scared to play those kinda video games on polls and surveys reason i'm scared to get violated against and lose an account!

For the same reason they have reported me for not liking an answer I give. People are over sensitive and though some claim to be "open" surely reported questions/answers show that they are not. But don't worry. I'm now going to join the ranks of those offended by questions and answers. Be careful.....I'm watching.

You have actually answered your own question.
There are many that feel that any opinion that differs from theirs is wrong and therefore needs to be eliminated.
I am a Christian Preacher and while I may not agree with anothers opinions on any given subject I recognize their right to make that choice.

I don't report questions that are not offensive even if they conflict with my views, people are entitled to there opinion as i am mine. I don't set out to offend anyone why should i put up with an overtly offensive question?

Questions and answers that offend against the current politically correct orthodoxy will be reported by liberal puritans, especially on homosexuality or Islam. Intolerant leftists will report any deviation from their orthodoxy as heresy.

This shows that politically correct views on homosexuality and Islam cannot be sustained by actual evidence. PC views are sustained by sloganeering and intimidation, not by evidence. Those who cannot refute objections vilify dissent as bigotry, hatred, and discrimination.

Cheers,
Bruce

Some people are just touchy. But some people should be reported. When it comes to questions or answers that are very offensive I report. Usually derogatory name calling makes me inclined to report. I don't like reporting and only use this feature sparingly. I'm not "report happy".

As far as homosexuality is concerned, when it comes to questions/answers from those who support or advocate therapy of gays (i.e. NARTH, Exodus, etc), then I will report it, since these organizations hurt people and destroy lives. But I won't report if someone says gays are going to hell, since this is only speculation and someone's belief.

As open minded as our society has become, we still have those that cling to close mindedness. I have only reported a few questions in the 1 year+ that i've been here. And those were absolutly wrong, and broke many rules.
