I have a 12 week old, 2.5lb, female chihuahua. I have noticed on her snout she has a tiny little bald spot on the top and on the side of her snout there looks to be a lil patch of hair thinning and also on one side of the top of her head. It doesn't look like the skin is irritated. She doesn't scratch a lot. She seems to be eating well (She eats Eagle Pack holstice Select mixed with a little baby food). I just recently started her on that dog food. She was on just baby food and yogurt when she was sick a couple weeks ago with Coccidia.
I know I need to take her to the vet. She is scheduled for her second shots soon. So I figure I would have them look then. But does anyone know what it might be? Maybe change of diet? or something?
She is well taken care of.. She stays inside because she is small. She is fed 2-3 times a day. She is my little shadow. She follows me around, sleeps and plays with me all the time. She looks and acts very healthy otherwise. any idea what it could be?

All she gets is love. She has regular vet check ups. I have researched and bought one of the best foods for her. She sleeps cuddled up to me at night.. well anytime she sleeps she is curled up by me or on me. When she is awake I am her own personal toy .. since I don't work we spend 24 hours together since she was so tiny and sick when I got her we have bonded a lot and I am used to babying her. She is sleeping in my lap as I am typing this. Not sure what I could do to make her quality of life any better. The only thing I havent done is bathed her.. Because she hasnt had her second shots yet and she has been so small and sick since I have had her I am scared and want to wait til her shots.

She was on baby food and yogurt because it was suggeested by the Vet when she was sick. She is eating a mixture of baby food and the kibble she will be on because I was told to slowly switch her to her kibble. I was told that completely changing a dogs food all at once wasn't good.

Your puppy dosnt sound like it is getting the proper nutrition. Baby food and yogurt is not the proper food for a dog. A dogs coat will suffer if he is not given the proper nutrition, and the dog will have other problems. Take the dog to the vets and get his advice on feeding and proper care of your dog. Its is not a toy and it is not a human baby.

As far as I can tell, you've been doing everything right. She's had her shots, the dog food you're giving her is a good one and the diet she's on now was veterinarian recommended.
It sounds as though she may have an allergy problem, or it could well be mange. That often starts on the face/head with small patches of hair loss. Your veterinarian can check for mange by doing a skin scraping, it's very easy. If that's the problem he will most likely treat her with special shampoo, or a dip. It will clear it up pretty easily.
If the skin scrapings don't indicate mange, then it may be an allergy. There are lots of different types of allergy, and many dogs have these problems. Check out this url for information on how to diagnose and treat canine skin allergies. http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/canine-skin-allergies.html
Best of luck with your puppy. enjoy her!

This is a question for the vet. Hair loss (both in spots and generalized) can be many things from sarcoptic (contagious to humans... aka scabies) to demodectic mange, ringworm (contagious to humans) or a skin infection, for instance.
I have a pup right now that I am fostering that had alopecia, hair loss, with a possible infection of the skin. No mange or ringworm was found (ringworm is pretty distinct, at least to me, while mange can be hard to diagnose at times), and the vet has the little guy on meds for it (clavamox). His hair is coming back very nicely and he looks like a million bucks now, after 10 days. I also bathed him once in a medicated shampoo.
He had a VERY rough start in life, but we're turning that around!
Not uncommon in young pups/kittens, but definitely see the vet sooner than later.

The owner of the dog needs to know how to "operate" the dog, same way you can get into a car that's in perfect running order but if you don't know how to drive you won't have much luck making the car go anywhere. If the owner doesn't know how to maintain the training, the dog will soon become untrained again. Read more here https://tinyurl.im/Npq1t
People seem to think that once a dog is trained, that's it. Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me "We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners

A natural way for dogs to communicate is to bark at things they find or see, usually which are interesting or a threat to them. If you have a dog that barks too much, then you want to find a way to calm down the instinct by offering the best dog training. While you want to make sure your dog can express themselves sometimes by barking, you also want to focus on not letting the noise become a burden. Following are some of the dog training tips that help your dog to stop barking while establishing basic obedience rules for the home.
Start young. If you have an older dog that hasn't been trained to stop barking, it is difficult to stop. You want to make sure that you train puppies not to bark if they are doing it too much. The younger you start training them, the easier it will be for them to understand the dog training commands.
Understand what barking is for. Barks from a dog are used for several reasons. You want to make sure you understand why they bark and whether this can be prevented. Some common reasons for barking are from the dog being bored or lonely. If there are distractions that the dog feels are a threat, they may also bark. You can prevent dogs from barking by giving them extra attention or by getting another pet.
Reward them when they stop. Just like other types of obedience training, you can easily stop your dog from barking by showing them when to be quiet. This is known as one of the best dog training methods. Dog training commands and words such as saying quiet, with a voice that has a low tone, will easily stop your dog from barking. Once they do stop, you can reward them by telling them good in a higher tone and by giving them a treat. However, you need to do this instantly after they stop so they understand what the reward is for.
Anti bark collars. If your dog instinctively keeps barking at everything, then you can get a collar for extra training. When the dog barks, a stimulus or scent is set off which causes slight discomfort for the dog. If you aren't around and your dog starts barking, it will immediately stop them.
Know when to train. You want to make sure you don't leave your dog in a position where they can't express themselves. Even if you have neighbors who don't like the dog barking, there are certain times where they should be able to speak. Knowing when to apply commands and training and when to let them bark helps them to feel comfortable while allowing you to apply limitations.
The ability to offer the best dog training is one that is reliant on consistency and understanding your dog. If you have a pet that naturally wants to bark, then finding a way to monitor the behavior is the best step to take. Following these dog training tips can help you to establish better behavior with your dog while allowing them to express themselves at the right time.
