If I spent over $600 on a tv and the buttons wouldn't work, I'd take it back quick! Wal-Mart is usually generous as long as you have your receipt. You should also have a warranty on the tv.

This problem is not one you can fix.

Unless you bought an extended warranty, the TV only has a 90 day warranty on labor and 1 year on parts.

Go to Walmart and see if they will exchange it or give you credit towards a better brand of TV.

If you have to use the manufacturer's warranty, make sure you get the repair paperwork going before the 90 day limit.
