Assuming you have enough physical control, use your chair or a handcycle as an exercise device. They're a little pricey, but if you get into it and make enough progress that you feel like competing, there are some awesome racing machines available.

Again, if you have enough control of your upper body, swimming is another option. Every swim shop has ankle buoys to keep the legs from dragging. Able bodied swimmers use these to work on their arm stroke without distraction, but I've also seen disabled swimmers use them at my 'Y'.

For reference and inspiration, watch NBC's broadcast of the Hawaii Ironman competition on Dec. 1st. They almost always feature a wheelchair athlete or two. Also see the documentary "Murderball" about wheelchair rugby. I've seen a game live and its pretty intense.....

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

3,500 hundred calories equal one pound of weight gain. Being in a wheel chair, I would think your daily burn of calories is less so you will need to keep a good track of what you eat but you don't have to walk to get exercise. I would say your arms are providing as much exercise by wheeling yourself around. Diet is very important. It's easy to lose weight without exercising.

Eat small portions is key. Eat real foods and stay away from sodium. If your bored with water, drink tea. Go to the internet and get the foods with their calorie count. It won't take too long but your body wll adjust and you won't get hungry as much and you won't need to eat as big of portions to feel filled up. Weight yourself everyday for motivation. Seeing your weight go down keeps the motivation up.

Eating helps depression. I'm not saying your depressed but food makes people feel good instantly. Replace this with an activity you enjoy. Try a new hobby.

Enjoy.

well i would say to exercises for you arms and tummy. for arms, you can do small things with weights. some curls and stuff.
you could surely lay in bed and do a mini crunch type move to help your stomach. it would be more challenging for you but i dont think its impossible.

they best way for you would probably be to change/ modify what you eat. you could do weight watchers points online, so you never have to leave the house. and they give you good guidance, recipes, and tools. tons of help! they even have work out videos, I'm sure they have one you may like.

check it out!
www.weightwatchers.com

go to online and look at the points program.
the 3 month plan is the best deal.

There are a few ways that you can benefit. For one-dieting. A healthier diet it the #1 way to lose weight. As for exercising, you can still exercise your abs, arms, chest...any calorie burn=weight loss

your diet will have to be near perfect. I would determine what your BMR is and ingest that amount of calories daily. shooting for 50% lean proteins, 30% carbs (high fiber low GI carbs like lentils, oats, beans, etc.) and 20% healthy fats. you should consume several servings of whole fruits daily and at least 4-5 cups of raw/steamed mixed vegetables daily
