He doesn't sound very devout. Sounds like a brand of PC Christianity, where you know you believe the one true God, but have to show respect to people who are wrong on every level of your beliefs.
No, I don't agree with him. He should grow a little backbone and at least stand by his convictions, right or wrong.

I agree with part of it, there is no way I can prove there is no God, there is no way they can prove there is a God, there is certainly no way they can prove, (or even pretend to understand) the Holy Trinity.
You have a standard answer here from a Christian, "look around you every day"!! Or how about "Just look at the birds in the sky,the pretty flowers in the garden, how could there not be a God"? Or the best one, "In the beginning there was God" Thats in the bible, what more proof could you need"?
The bit I dont agree with as far as your friend is concerned is just this one little fact:-
As atheists we all just have a couple of things in common, we do not believe in God, it follows then that we do not believe in any religion.
We differ in almost every thing else, for example I like to hit my wife with wet seaweed while I am wearing my blue snorkel gear and pink flippers, not all atheists are into that, and I dont think my wife would really want all the worlds atheists to hit her with wet seaweed! I'll have to ask her.
We do not form any part of any religion.
Apart from that your friend is correct, I cant prove any thing, neither can they.

*Sigh* Oh no, not this again.
"You can't prove God doesn't exist, anymore than I can prove God does exist."
I believe that an invisible clone of Mo from the Three Stooges lives in the crawl space under my house. Prove me wrong.
POINT: The burden of proof is on the person making the ridiculous claim. The fact that I cannot disprove God's existence is, in itself, a detraction from the plausibility of a deity existing. Real qualities of the world around us can be tested.
Also, atheism is not a religion, as the person above me so creatively explained using the drug addict metaphor.

Actually I think most atheist would tell you it is not a religion, more of a belief system. Which does fall under the general category of religion, but its more of an anti religion.
As for the rest of what he said, it more or less makes sense. I don't see why everybody needs to fight. I think a lot of the tensions are created by people talking about the tensions, and then misunderstanding each other.

No, atheism is not a religion.
Religion: A system of beliefs, including belief in the existence of at least one of the following: a human soul or spirit, a deity or higher being, or self after the death of one’s body.

No I don't, first atheism IS NOT a religion. It's up to him to prove god does exist since there is not evidence saying otherwise.

LOL Atheism is the lack of beliefs in g o d s , not just THEIR god, they should stop taking everything so personally as if the whole world revolves around them.

I don't believe in a blood thirsty, vengeful sky boss, or his son, or his nemesis the devil or any of a number of spooks, spirits, ghosts or goblins that accompany ones belief system in the sky boss.
I guess I'm ok with it because I know it's not real. The problem I have is when they try to tell me that I'm wrong.

No Atheism is not a religion. It has no stuctured set of rules and laws other than that of nature.
It is however a belief.
