What type of weather is best for deer hunting and why?

Name the best times to hunt, best weather, and why for each.

Is it good to hunt when windy? What about rain or snow?

The best times to be in the wood would be early am just after sunrise or in the pm just before it gets dark, colder temp 20-40 degrees, light snow is ok but if you have heavy snow and wind the deer will not move much, they will stay bedded down untill it calms down.

Deer move the most when it is first getting cold. They start to seek out new feeding places, looking for masts (which raise their core body temperature) rather than the sweeter options they are likely to seek out in the warm weather.

As far as inclement weather goes, deer are usually only affected by severe weather. Right before a storm, there will be a burst of activity as the deer seek out enough food to hold them through the storm. If the weather persists for more than a day or two, the deer will be forced to seek out food and water during the storm.

Deer will be cautious in higher winds, and the worse it gets, the more they react (it makes them jittery because they can't hear as well). Deer usually move in the rain the same as when it's clear, and it gives the hunter an advantage over them. Moisture keeps scent down and the rain helps to hide your movements.

Almost any weather is suitable for hunting deer, but you need to know how they react to different weather conditions. I would suggest Peter Fiduccia's book Whitetail Strategies. He will help you to understand many things about the way deer behave, including their reactions to weather.

I PREFER COOL DAYS AND COLD NIGHTS, If it's to hot it's uncomfortable and it's not good to hang the deer for long

Some snow is ok, it even helps to see the deer better
rain is just plain messy so I like to avoid that

Wind can be an ally if it's into your face, it helps carry away your sound and scent
If it's to you back or shifting it will have the opposite affect

My personal choices!
Hunting times all day but most activity for all deer is am and pm but very good midday movement too(9am to 2pm).
Best weather- light to moderate rain wind or snow!
Rain- helps to cover your scent and sound.
Wind- if played correctly scent and sound control also but can aide in movement too.
Snow- this is the time for stalking and sound control plus at times of snow deer movement will increase because of the pressure system and go on feeds.plus cooler weather allows deer more comfort.
NEGATIVES!
Rain- to heavy of rain will make deer very jumpy for their senses will not be able to be used effectivly- may cause deer to hold up for time but also deer will group up for security- sometimes causes very erratic movement!!
Wind- to heavy of wind their sense of hearing and smell is fooled more easily and can cause erratic behavior- sometime causes deer to feed in lulls of wind means sporatic feed patterns!!
Snow- heavy snows will cause deer to stack up and hold tight to cover until lulls and then feed patterns may be hard to pattern- to heavy of snow makes movement very hard for animals travel and at times make them easy prey for predation or starvation- feed sources may be covered in deep snow! One plus can arise with heavy snows is with good weather times come heavy feeds when possible so if you find good mast crops or high protien feeds the deer usually yard near them until gone then move to other food source!
