Lela, according to Wikipedia (which isn't always reliable, but is pretty good in general), the 'body' in the glass case is actually a wax cast. The real body within was already showing signs of decay by 1919, when it was exhumed for the second time.

I do not think she has been embalmed, at least not directly after her death, though the doctors examining her later noticed a sweet smelling odor, and some of the aromatic hydrocarbons have preservative properties. But let's not forget that the body is covered with a layer of wax (talk about artistic license - her cheeks look plumber than in photos of her when alive). Also remember that her face started to turn green after thirty years after being exposed to air. There are also places where the abdominal region has caved in or the skin has pulled off.
It's not too different from other bodies that were well-preserved after death. It has nothing to do with the attributes of the person alive. Note that a beheaded king and murderer (forget his name) was still quite moist a century-and-a-half after the execution. It's gross, but it's not uncommon. It has to do with the moisture in the air after death and the opportunities for decomposition.
As for bleed palms, I'm not about to argue that anything is satanic. I'm an atheist.

I myself have seen many bodies this way, including the body of St. Bernadette in person at the chapel of Nevers, several years ago.
Her face, hands, and feet are covered with a thick layer of wax for preservation. It's not a miracle, she's just a wax figure. Several other Saints and Popes are preserved this way, with their bodies on display.
It's also gross.

There are other incorruptibles. But Bernadette Soubirous is the hawtest.
St. Clare of Assisi was incorruptible for about two hundred years after her death. Then she just rotted away. Maybe God decided it was time to move on.

To my Protestant mind, there are two possibilities that explain the "miraculous" preservation of Bernadette's body:
1) the body on display is not really hers. If you look at it closely, it appears to be a wax figure, similar to what you see at Madam Toussaud's; or
2) it is her body, but she was embalmed with a fluid that has a high lead content. Do a web search using the terms "embalmed" and "lead." You can see pictures of people who are remarkably well-preserved. This method was very popular at the time Bernadette died.
FYI, the nails did not go through Jesus' palms; they went through His forearms, near the wrist. If the stigmata came from God, don't you think He'd get the placement correct?

I want to go see some of the incorruptibles. I don't see how any non-Catholic could see them and not believe!
Nice link :)
If these people SAW it, and saw the proof that its not fake, they might believe. But it is sad how many people never travel and are so ignorant for it!

Did you know that our bodies take longer to decompose nowadays because of the preservatives in our food?
Food for thought.
Of course, that has nothing to do with the St. Bernadette's body, because that's just another example of insanity of Christians who are more than willing to believe in nonsense just to keep their faith alive.

It is quite simple. Bleeding palms shows no purpose nor signifigance to anyone that is a believer or a non-believer. It is not mentioned in the Bible at all. What more must I say to show you that the Catholic church is a cult? Pick up the Bible and read it. Stop letting the heretical priests brain wash you.
VICARIUS FILII DEI is the title of the Pope. It means: 'In the place of the Son of God.'" That is Antichrist!!! Wake up!!!!!!

Every one should watch the movie "The Song of Bernadette", with Vincent Price. Can't argue with Vincent Price !!
PS: Don't let them get to you sis. Just keep posting questions, and keep them scrambling for their little anti-Catholic tracts
