If I paint on un-stretched canvas that's been cut off a canvas roll, can I roll the painting up gently, or will rolling it cause the paint to crack?

Secondly, do storage temperatures cause problems to the paint tubes?

Thanks in advance for your generous help. ^^

A few rules here.
1. You have to have a gesso primed canvas or it may chip
2. Do not let it get below room temperature or the paint may break.
3. Damage may occur anyway because you painted real thick.
Other than that is is very safe to roll a painting (canvas or oil)

Room temperature is best. To low (freezing point) will make the acrylics and water separate and set like two different liquids. The paint will be ruined. Almost the same happens when to hot.
If you store it anywhere indoors (unless you live in the Sahara, Kalahari or someplace hot) your paint should be OK.

1. yes its defnitely fine to roll up the painting once its DRY. acrylic is defnitely ok to roll up because its so flexible. that is acutally how they transport over sized, 40 ft murals.

2. storage temperatues will not effect the paint tubes unless its about over 100 degrees. you really only have to worry about storing paint tubes with oils.

If it is done in a painterly style, thick, thick paint, it will most definitely crack.
