While puppies can play all day long,it's not recommended to force exercise until they have a fully developed skeletal system. Forced exercise without a break, can damage the growth plates. 18 months is a good age to start long leash walks or jogging routines. Short leash walks with breaks every 15 minutes or so is fine for young developing dogs.

Sounds like a trainer who doesn`t know the first thing about very active herding dogs! What you`re doing is absolutely fine for her age; be prepared to increase that hugely as she gets older. Classes are great as well for a puppy that needs to use her mind. You`d only be doing something wrong if you were forcing her to run, you`re NOT walking her too much.

I generally like to walk puppies that young off leash, but in a safe area like a big yard or park, because dogs that young can tire quickly but will continue to follow you if they are on a leash. In a big open space they can run around but since they aren't forced to follow you like on a walk they can stop when they get tired. I usually don't start leash walking long distances until at least 6 months.

only about 10 minutes at a time....this will be your training to walk on a lead time! And puppies tire very easily!

As long as you feel the puppy can handle it, there's no set rules.
