The war is far from over.

BluRay went on the attack by including one in each PS3 and getting BlockBuster to support it.

But the BluRay player prices are still $350 and a lot of people snapped up the Toshiba A2 for $97 a few weekends ago and the new A3 is $199.

I have 2 Blockbusters near my home that carry BluRay. I tried to get Spiderman 3 in BluRay and was told "It was rented." I asked more and discovered:

SpiderMan3 in Standard Def: 70 copies
SpiderMan3 in BluRay: 1 copy

So Blockbuster's support is kind of 'token'.

Remember when Sony was behind Beta (which was a superior format) and VHS won? Some claim VHS won because the adult film industry supported it. They have already decided that HD-DVD is the format to support.

So the war is not over, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

They came out a year and a half ago! But I say Blu-Ray because of studio support. (6 of the 8 major movie studios support Blu-Ray, while only 3 support HD DVD)

A few things point to the Blu-Ray Disk winning. Blockbuster is going forward with BD in all locations and not HD DVD. Targets HD DVD offering has shrunk to make room for more BD movies on the shelves in their stores. The BD player price has just come down to $399 for the Sony BDP-S300 or for a PS3. The comparable Toshiba HD-DVD players are about the same but less fully featured models go for $299.
They both look great but I would hurry up and support BD just to help end the war and get more content available as soon as possible.

Both DVD types are out in stores now. I could not really say that either one will really win out because there are manufacturers out there that are manufacturing both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players, and there are manufacturers that are manufacturing both types of disk. However, if I had to choose, it seems that Blu-Ray is the more popular DVD format.

I too even jumped on the Blu-Ray bandwagon when I bought a Blu-Ray player from digitaldealz.net. Got a great price and a mail-in rebate for 5 movies.

Here is the one that I bought from digitaldealz.net:

you are about year to late and a blu-ray disc is not the same as a DVD, It is my opinion that blu-ray discs will win out as single sided blu-ray disc can hold about 25gb of data, a double sided DVD can only hold 8.7gb of data. As for cost an HD-DVD player could cost around £200; a blu-ray player could cost at least £300 or you could get a blu-ray writer for your PC for £200

About a year ago. I think Blu-Ray will win, mainly because the PS3 has one built in..
