Didn't Jesus ever say anything that was in context? I have to admit, he does clash with the rest of the bible, but he is the only good part

Matthew 6:34 "Do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will take care of itself."

But it doesn't stop there. "Each day has enough trouble of its own."

I agree: Jesus IS the BEST part.

Thanks, friend.

I think I get what you are asking. Interpreting an ancient book like the Bible has its challenges. If we are to form a doctrine out of something that Jesus or one of the apostles said, then we need to be sure that we are interpreting that passage correctly. Context is a great help in these situations. If we have a particular interpretation of something that Jesus said, then we look to see if our interepretation has support throughout the rest of the book and the rest of the Bible. If it does not have such support, there is a good chance that our interpretation is off. Using context in this manner is not the answer to every challenge of interpretation but helps protect us from the dangers of building a doctrine out of a passage of scripture that we have misinterpreted.

Sadly this can be true.
The most important thing that Jesus said was to love one another.
This sticks in my mind because it is the hardest thing for us to do everyday in everything we do.
It makes sense that if we do everything in love then the rest will follow.
The smallest thing we do, e.g washing the dishes, if we do it in love instead of as a chore then it becomes easier if we apply this to all the things we have to do in a day then we feel a sense of achievement , the most menial task then becomes a small victory.
Perhaps you think I am taking this out of context, but sometimes we have to really understand what the whole meaning was. It is meant to be simple, not complicated or tied up with rules and regulations, sorry to waffle on I just think that Jesus said the most basic of things and some clever people have added to His basic simple rules.

Simple... those that are saying you're taking it out of context just don't like how you're interpreting what was said.

If the bible said "jesus went behind the bushes and took a dump" the Christians would somehow manage to turn it into "jesus made a golden poo to be kept by his worshippers until the end of days when he'd come to reclaim it for his own".

Jesus is meant to clash with the rest of the Bible. He came to teach that the Old Testament ways were wrong. That we are saved by grace and faith and not by works and laws.

Christianity is based on the New Testament.

In order to use one of Jesus's quotes in context, you need to be in the Middle East, wearing white robes, with the threat of crucifixion looming on the horizon, and angry Romans running around everywhere. Then, all of your quotes will be in context.

Because Jesus' "context" is as a myth made up by Paul.

Jesus is shadowed all throughout the old testament. He is God in the flesh...often times when we read the scriptures we use the words to prove our own personal adgenda and not what God is really saying. Without revelation and discernment from the Holy Spirit, it is quite easy to misinterpret the Scripture.

Oh please, do you think we are idiots? Your questions are automatically suspect if for no reason other than the name you have chosen so It is automatic that you take any quote out of context to produce a "question" that tries to prove your point.

You sicken me.

Only good part? Psalms is a laugh-riot! Personally I thought the Jesus myth was pretty lame. He hardly ever uses his powers.
