Your teacher can't count. Do you think you'll get a grade in math?

This is a trick question. 1 cent an 5 cent coins bear the words '1 cent' and 'five cents' respectively. 10 cent coins bear the word 'dime' and 25 cent coins bear the word 'quarter dollar'. The names 'penny' and 'nickel' are only nickname and not official names so your 27 cents could be any mixture of 1 cent and 5 cent coins that total 27 cents. IE 5 at 5 cents and two at 1 cent.

However you did say 'two coins' and none of them can add up to 27 cents so there must be another answer. It may be this. The 1853 'Seated Liberty' 25c coin did not bear the word 'quarter' anywhere on it. It did beat the abbreviation 'Quardol' (short for Quarter dollar) so, technically it was not a 'quarter'. Also The two-cent coin was produced in the United States from 1864-1873 with decreasing mintages throughout that time So if you had those two coins you might get away with it.

(Hey and I'm English.)
